Hi

Very scared 35 yr old female here.

Ive always suffered with health anxiety but i dont think this is anxiety but something worse so need advice!

About 7 weeks ago I noticed my bm were like mud but just one a day with no pain. About 3 weeks ago myself and my partner started with stomach aches and just a general unwell feeling. We went to our GP whom did stool samples which came back normal checking for infection, this was 2 weeks ago. Noe, since last week my bm has increased but they are sloppy, once yellow and ive lost 4lbs in 2 weeks since its started. Ive gone to a Gatro specialist yesterday and he has ordered a colonoscopy to check whats going on.

My anxiety has hit the roof. I have genuinely decreased my calorie intake over the weeks as my partner wasnt eating ing much so i didnt. My partner is better now but im the same!!!

Its the weight loss which means cancer!!

Reducing your calorie intake and worry will make you lose weight.  If I get significantly worried, I can lose a good half stone in a week and it shows because I am ver toy slim anyway.

First the WORST thing you can do is be anxious and stressed. I know this much. Try things to reach you like adult coloring, walking, swimming...whatever relaxes you. A good massage helps me and the IBS.

IBS has always mad e a change in my stools, so that can be very normal.

Don't let your mind even go to the 'C' word. I am

5'7 and normally a size 6/8 weighing 155-160. When my first IBS hit in 1994 before I was diagnosed, I lost down to 114!! I was a Stick!! Always had to be close to a bathroom and such. So yes, IBS can cause even the exact symptoms you're having.

Bentyl was a life saver for me on that and I ate immodium. Not so good, but it helped. Keep being persistence with your specialist till you find a diagnosis. God bless!!

Before my IBS diagnosis last year, I couldn't concentrate on any pleasures either.  I had the constant crushing worry 24/7 that something was seriously wrong and that the doctor had missed it. What dragged me to despair was all my negative tests but no answers for three months and being told that my symptoms were confusing and that they didn't have a clue about what could be causing it.

      Hi thanks

Im petrified of what they find. Its so stressful. Was in tears last night thinking how will i cope, what will i do. What if its terminal.

I forgot to mention that i opted for a home full blood test about a month ago. It tested four elements all was ok except the size of my red blood cells, they were too big. I read it can be a b12 or folate deficiency, its called macrocytosis, not sure if it can cause weight loss and persistent loose bm's.

    Hi Kay,

My health anxiety is much the same. But please try not to worry. If your partner is better then there is no reason why you wont get better either.

You may of just picked up a minor infection from something you ate. Women tend to suffer from IBS more than men so although your partner is over it your body may be taking a little longer to recover. Giving you these symptoms.

Your stool will change colour and consisitency if you dont eat a balanced diet. Carolies are a huge part of our diet and we need them. You will quickly loose weight and if you stress out and worry it will cause you to loose weight further. Not only that IBS is triggered by anxiety. You may find when your mind relaxes your body will relax to. So far none of the tests have come back with anything to worry about. I know its hard but try not to worry or think the worst.

Try and eat more sugar. Its a well known fact that if we are dehydrated, or dont have enough energy our body will get anxious. Anxiety is run on adrenaline. Therefore the body pulses the adrenaline in order to keep us going. If you eat some calories and balance out your diet more you will put the weight back on and no doubt your anxiety will decrease.

I have suffered from severe anxiety disorder for many many years. Since my recent IBS diagnosis i have found that if i control my anxiety then i can control my IBS. Although its very hard and i can sympathise your worry. But just try the above. Nothing can harm you. cheesygrin

I have a colonoscopy this coming week and not sure how i feel, i cant stomach the thought of any food right now either im on a downward slope

You're losing weight coz you're not eating - it's very simple!

I'm not going to tell you to stop worrying as it's obvious you won't. What I will say is that weight loss ( which is because you're not eating) is not the main sign of colon cancer. I'm a therapy radiographer so I see enough of it !

      Hello

Thank you for messaging me back, I am so terrified of this, I cannot concentrate on anything anymore. My colonoscopy is schedule for Friday at 2.30pm and to tell you the truth I have never been more petrified in my life!

I have cut my intake by at least half, but my bm are still irregular and I have now noticed mucus which is defo cancer! Slowly but surely crying inside and outside, its the worst feeling ever!
