Terrible, undiagnosed shoulder pain for 2 years straight..

OK so I am hoping someone can help me out here... Anyway I've had this terrible shoulder pain for 2 years straight. Ever since I had a conveyor belt fall on my right arm around Labor Day of 2014,I've had trouble with my right shoulder..But ever since the start of this year,my right shoulder pain has grown to be unbearable most of the time. My symptoms include: Stiff feeling in shoulder, decreased movement, trouble doing even the most simple tasks like driving, trouble with reaching overhead, this pain that is felt mainly at the front of my shoulder that radiates to where the rotator cuff is,the pain feels like a throbbing, stabbing type of sensation, and severe pain 24/7. I've tried almost every form of non-surgical treatment to help ease the pain and nothing helps. I got an MRI done today, and I finally find out in a few days why my right shoulder hurts so bad. My question is,does anyone on here think my symptoms sound like Frozen Shoulder related?

Could be frozen shoulder but I'm sure there's underlining issues. You could have several things wrong including but not limited to a SLAP tear bicep tendon tear or rotator cuff tear. Did you just have an MRI or did you have an arthrogram which is an MRI with dye injection? If you only had an mri it might not show anything. If thats the case i would ask for the arthrogram. I feel your pain. My injury happened a yr and a half ago and have had 3 shoulder surgeries in the past yr. 1. Slap repair 2. Slap repair with bicep tendinosis 3. Adhesive capsulitis release and manipulation. Good luck and hope you can get some pain relief soon. Let me know how it goes.

And how are you doing now deb? I had slap tear and bicep surgery now I have frozen shoulder would u recommend surgery for the frozen shoulder?

My manipulation surgery was 3 weeks ago. I actually go back to the Dr tomorrow. I would say it depends on how bad it is. Mine was about a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. 10 being worst. Even after releasing scar tissue he still couldn't get my arm to move. My forward motion is really the only improvement I've had. I still can't move it behind me or out to the side. Dr said I'll be lucky if I get to 80% ROM when it's all said and done. I've done lots of research before agreeing to have it done. The results are if your Dr recommend it I'd say do it but it's a long process to recover with p.t. I had to go straight from surgery and everyday after that for a week.

Well I went to my appt and 2 weeks ago he said I'd been good to go back to work in 6 weeks. Wednesday he said it will be a few months till that happens. My shoulder had been through a lot in the past yr and a half and not healing as quickly as he had hoped. Still making progress just very slowly. Have you given anymore thought on having the procedure?

My dr hasn't really suggested mua yet I think because I still am only 21/2 month out of surgery for the bicep and labrum he is afraid to pull the pins and screws or whatever is holding the bicep in it's new place! I know even when they over stretch it in pt it is crazy painful! I actually told my pt that they were stretching to far! I can litterally feel it swelling back over my socket on the car ride home! Feels like someone is pouring cement in my shoulder and by the time I am home I don't have any of the movement I had at pt anyway!

Yeah my mua was 3 months after the slap/bicep tendinosis surgery. He went in and scraped all of the adhesions and still couldn't get my arm to move. Glad he didn't force it. I can get my arm to move to 110 degrees in forward motion by myself and my p.t. got it to 127 degrees. But the rest of my arm still isn't moving. And i think my dr is losing his optomism of my recovery. Its been 4 weeks since my mua. I'm just so glad to have others to talk to that understands the pain and struggles of FS. I really hope you can get some relief. Maybe your next appt you should ask him how he feels about a mua. I know some Dr's jump on it others use it as a last resort. Keep me posted.

You symptoms are exactly the same as mine were, I had an impingement in my right shoulder, I,ve had decompression surgery and that coursed me to have a frozen shoulder become the op coursed a lot of inflammation, I'm going for MUA on Monday and hoping this nightmare will be over!

    Hope this helps!!

That actually makes me feel alot better, knowing someone else has had the same pain symptoms as me..I just felt like no one around me understood the pain I have been in with my shoulder, for these past few years. However that all changed when one of my coworkers suggested i visit an Orthopedic Specialist..I nearly cried tears of joy when the OS finally put in the order for the MRI,because he saw how much pain I'm in..before i have had doctors dismiss the pain in my shoulder as nerve damage, which i know isnt true because i've had nerve pain before and my gut instinct tells me that i am dealing with tendon/muscle pain.I get to see the results of my MRI later on today, couldn't be happier because after 2 years,I'll finally know what's going on with my shoulder..Im thinking that Impingement Syndrome could be a good possibility..I'll keep everyone posted what the MRI results aresmile

Good to hear something is being done for you, I'm having my MUA this Monday and I'm not nervous about the procedure I'm just nervous if my shoulder doesn't get any better! I've been off work since my op 4 months ago and being self employed I'm broke 😖 had pain for years now! Really praying this will be the answer x

Ok! Had my MUA yesterday they gave me a nerve block so I'm still a bit numb, after the op my surgeon said my frozen shoulder was really bad, my daughter helped me do some stretching when I got home as I couldn't lift my operated arm myself, woke up an hour ago and the pain is not as bad as I thought it would be! Taken loads of pain relief an going to try some stretching in a minute, feeling a bit nervous.

      Will post again later!

    Hi

I really feel your pain and hope mri gives you results to help. Don't know about you but I found Mri very painful due to my shoulder. I was treated for bursitis as initially GP sent me for one due to both shoulders hurting, right shoulder showed bursitis but left did not indicate anything so GP just assumed left was the same and gave me a steroid injection it didn't work so he repeated it but after I told him my top of shoulder didn't look right he sent me for mri which revealed a priciminal humerus fracture, fluid, arthritis and the dozen shoulder is because of what's going on in shoulder. I am now waiting to see surgeon and a bone density scan as I haven't had a fall or anything to explain fracture. I wish you the best of luck

My MRI that I had,was very painful because I had to lay on my shoulder for 40 minutes..Looked at my shoulder yesterday, and I noticed that it looked bony and abnormal. My shoulder literally drops to the side, and I experience pain 24/7. Someone around me had mentioned Bursitis as a possibility, because the pain is located right on top of where the Bursa is. Whatever is wrong,I can't wait to finally find out the cause behind my shoulder pain

I feel your pain .... no, seriously, I FEEL your pain!sad My right shoulder has taken a pounding over the years. 20 years ago I fell from a horse onto my shoulder - just thought it was bruised at the time, it was my neck I was more worried about.

6 years ago I tripped over a rock and dislocated my shoulder!rolleyes The 'Frozen' bit started Jan 2015. It lasted about 6 months. But it started to hurt MORE as it 'healed'. Since March this year I have been on a waiting list to see a surgeon - but I am not holding my breath that he can do anything. I think the problem is so far ranging - not bones, but muscles, tendons and nerves. How do you fix that?

I found a private Physio to be very good, and now I have saved some pennies I am going back to her. I think in the States you have to pay for almost everything everything, but I can recommend a good Physio or a back massage, and have found both help. When you are in such pain all the time, you hold yourself differently and you start to 'set'. A good massage works on the knots and, although it might not improve the shoulder directly, I find it helps with the pain and certainly the tension.

I hope you get some relief soon.

    Hi there,

Reading your post it sounds to me like Frozen Shoulder.

Excrucating pain most of the time, range of movement, not

been able to do normal every day tasks.

Hopefully your MRI scan reveals just what it is, & if it is FS

you can get treatment ASAP,has your doctor not suggested

FS ? Let me know how you get on.

I go back to the Orthopedic doctor's office on Friday, that's when I'll find out what's causing my shoulder pain, but my instincts tell me that I have FS. I hope I can get treatment A.S.A.P for it,because the pain is unbearable most of the time. Orthopedic doctor's office thinks my shoulder pain is due to either FS,or a rotator cuff tear. I just can't wait to finally have a diagnosis, and for the pain to finally go away..
