What the heck is going on?

Hi,

I had some bloods done and my CRP came back at 20.  It should be below 5.  My ESR came back at the very top of normal.

Recently my back and legs feel stiff when I wake up.

Also, my lower legs and feet feel like they are sunburned, or swollen but they are not.

My GP is very slow.

He said he will test me for autoimmune problems next time I see him.

Does anyone have any ideas on what is going on with me?

Also, my veins seems to be more prominent all over my body.  GP said this was because I am getting older.  (Im 43).  He said no disease has this as a symptom.

I feel very low and worried.

Youay want to consult with a rheumatologist. With a high CRP it's likely you have some kind of inflammation going on.

Jenin is right.  The elevated CRP level means it is likely you have inflammation and you need to consult a rheumatologist. They are more qualified than your GP also to test for autoimmune disorders. You should ask your GP to refer you to one.

Hi yes I so agree these were my blood results and I have Behcet's disease... you need to see a consultant. I would recommend an immunologist rather than rheumatologist personally.

seems to me that most GP's are very slow when it comes to auto-immune issues. you need to make another appointment and ask for a referal to a rheumatologist as a minimum, don't be fobbed off either. an immumologist would be good too but I get the impression that they only do this as a last resort, I have 5 different auto-immune issues now yet been waiting for over a year to get a referal to one, having seen 4 other specialists in the meantime!

Hi Catalonia...not sure where you live but I waited three months to see an immunologist. It was sooner in the end because I put my name on a standby list for any cancelled appointments once I had my referral, so think it was 4 weeks after being told it would be 3 months.

it's not the waiting for the appointment Margaret, its the waiting for the GP to refer me thats taken so long!

oh dear. That's dreadful but I do think you have a right to insist if you are not getting the treatment you need. I would contact the practice manager and ask for an explanation.

I hesitate to recommend rheumatologists as I saw one who was useless to me I'm afraid. x

I think you need to change gp's as the thing about the prominent veins not connecting to a disease is wrong. My grandmother had one that causes severe varicose veins and they would burst and she would have to be hospitalised and operated on to stop the bleeding. I have also heard of another one aswell but because of my brain fog I can't remember the names of them at the moment but if I think of them I will let you know.

You have described everything I have had, my bloods esr was 25,29 last one was 28 my crp was 21, I get paina nd aches in my body especially my left leg and back mainly top of my back. My gp too is also very slow and I never seem too see the same one which is a pain. I have noticed my veins becoming more prominent on my head hands and arm but i am 23. Its so worrying not knowing whats happening and hope you get or have gotten some answers x
