Hi Pauline from my experience I would say yes to both.

I had leg pain for some time. Down the side which turned out to be nerve pain and in the front which was where everything was healing. With feeling the implant. I had that feeling too. It does pass but takes quite a while. Your body has to get used to it.

I am so glad people are talking about feeling their implants. I have only noticed it in the last week, as i am now 7 weeks tomorrow, I decided to sleep back on my favourite side (the operated side) but I cannot as i can feel the joint and find this is very uncomforfable.

Hi Pauline I am eight weeks post  THR  and because of complication have had physio every day for six weeks now. A couple of days ago told to stop all walking  and exercising due to an injury to my ankle. Before that I had probably stopped  exercising for a few days because of the ankle swelling. I say this because now when I sit down it says if someone A broomhandle underneath me,  Also  I feel that my femur is trying to push up out of my son is trying to push up out of my thigh.   I say all this because I am wondering what exercises are you doing for the hip itself and in the way of walking and any Physio?

nine weeks seems a long time without a follow-up appointment so perhaps no advice was given you either about exercise et cetera?

    regards dot

      Hi Pauline

If you cannot afford to go to a specialised physio in the private sector, then Google hip recovery or hip replacement exercises and make sure you get hospital websites or NHS websites, Couple of Scottish NHS trusts issue online really good booklets and study the exercises you can do at your level of post op . You will probably find it quite daunting how many other exercises you could be doing to assist with your pain follow the directions Faithfully. No thinking the more you do the better…

Hi Pauline I'm 7 weeks post and had my first

    hospital check up yesterday.

I also have leg pain ,knee pain and tender round scar area.

Was told scar was looking great and the redness would fade with time the pain and tender is the

    nerves knitting back together.

As for feeling the hip or rock as I call it ,its all normal our bodies have to realine and get back to normal I was told ,I walked like ape woman for a long time did you? Anyway all in all it's all part of healing we're doing great I felt better just hearing

this from professional. Much love and hugs xxx

Hi Pauline me again I've just sat on bed shattered had a really good day going to hospital yesterday and getting feed back from Doctor really gave me confidence as it seems such a long time from op until you see Doc.

I have had to get crutches out this eve as I think over done it can feel that there joint but feel things are moving on slowly .

As Sister at hospital said yesterday its still early days and keep on with exercises. Hugs xxx

    Hi Pauline,

I'm three weeks along. I also feel my  new joint and have the issue of shorter leg. This is what I know. Doctor said new tissue is forming around the joint. This takes time, like months not weeks.. Physical therapist says my muscles in my good leg constricted and needed stretching to make legs get to same length. I get stretching by loved ones everyday after PT showed them how and I have walking that feels normal after the stretching though it can revert to limp when I walk without cane or walker or if I skip the stretching. PT says it takes time. I definitely feel progress.

Hang in there. I wish you healing. Get as much support from PT or doctor as you can. We all heal differently. Be sure to get enough rest.
