I had my UFE on August 28, 2016....almost 4 weeks ago. I was on my cycle during the procedure (I know...gross). Well, the pattern of my cycle is usually 23-25, with the last 5 being 25 days apart. Well, today makes 29 days and no sight of blood. I have been cramping on and off for 4 days, but no sight of blood. Has anyone else experienced a late or missed cycle for the first cycle following the UFE?

I was bleeding during my procedure too. It stopped immediately after the procedure for about 6 weeks or so. Then it came back so heavy that I thought the procedure failed. Which is what brought me to this forum. The second cycle wasn't heavy but it was looooong. I felt so down. But the last 2 have been continuing improvements. I'm very hopeful now that life will become normal again at least for a while :-) UFE is my third procedure to relieve my problems. The two prior helped only a couple years each.
Have patience. I think everyone's experience is a little different.

Thank you for responding. I guess at this point, it's a waiting game :-) For me, I didn't have heavy cycles...THANK GOD!! My first two days would be so light, I would wonder if my cycle had actually began. So much so, that I could wear a pantyliner. Then my last day and a half would be extremely heavy with EXCRUCIATING pain. I had to begin seeing a pain specialist. Percocet was like taking Skittles and expecting the pain to go away. I was on two pain meds -- dilaudid and tramadol -- and Tylenol. So, the bleeding wasn't what led to me having the UFE. It was the pain.
I hope this one is the final procedure in order for you to have complete and lasting relief. The things we go through as women!!!! :-)

I had my UFE June 24th and still not had my period,Can I ask you did you have a swollen tummy before UFE and if you did has it gone down?

WOW!! Every case is so different, you don't know what to expect. I wouldn't be upset if mine disappeared for a while or forever...without menopause symptoms (hot flashes). Though it's not extremely large, I'm going to assume I have a swollen tummy because with exercise, it never goes down. About a year ago, I was told I have an enlarged uterus due to the fibroids...the largest of the 3 is about the size of a grapefruit. I looked at my lab report this evening. A normal size uterus is 3.x4.x7. Mine is 9.x10.x7 (I can't recall the numbers behind the decimal points). As I stated, My UFE was just 4 weeks ago on August 18. I don't expect much shrinkage this soon. I was scheduled for my followup tomorrow, but my surgeon had an emergency and had to reschedule. Now, I have to wait a couple of weeks. I have many questions.

Well, I finally came on a couple of hours ago....5 days late. I'm just praying that is not heavier than usual. I just want to be normal!! lol

Hi Sharon. I'm not really clear on your second sentence. I have pain from my largest Fibroid, but only during my cycle. The other 2 are small and I don't experience pain from them.

How are you doing now? It's been about a month since your procedure. I'm having UFE this week. I have very heavy scary periods that I never want to see again. Hoping UFE stops them forever.

Praise God, I'm actually doing good...FINALLY! I never had heavy periods associated with my fibroids, so I can't speak on a difference in that aspect. Mine have been pretty light, with the exception of the final day, which was heavy and extremely painful. I must say, it appeared as if the pain didn't last as long this first period post UFE. We'll see what next month brings. I hope all goes well with you and you get some relief following your procedure. The things women go through...

Sorry to hear your periods have not returned yet and the distress that this has obviously caused you. Were you under 40 when the UFE procedure was done and have you followed up with the follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) test to confirm that you are in the menopause? I know that 12 month after not having a period is considered menopausal but have they compared your before UFE and after UFE results to check your ovarian function?

Have your periods returned ? I had my UFE. in sep and had a cycle in October then NOTHING for months. Had a hormone test and was told I was done ! No more periods ! Menopause ! Then in February my period came back and has been every month since and dr did another test in February and I'm not even close to menopause or primenopause😳. The only thing I still have is vaginal dryness which now I think is because I don't have as much estrogen because I know now fibroids have a lot of estrogen. Hope all is well.
