Hi, can anyone relate their experience with the resumption of their abaility to have an erection, and the timeline in wich they noticed changes?  do you just wake up one morning and it's back or is it more of a gradual restoration?

Are you asking about after prostate removal? Having read lots of people's stories on the prostate cancer uk forum (not this forum) it seems for most men it is a lot of work, they usually use a pump daily to get the blood flowing, not necessarily for actual sex but to get the blood down there for healing. Many men regain erections which may not be until a few years later. Some luckier to achieve them quicker. Others never get them again naturally. I think the younger you are the better. But from what I have read, hard work and determination seems to be the key.

No restoration without injections or pumps. 7 months post op. T hormones are dropping off chart and no chance of replacements. Have been told they are suger to P cancer.

This is where the mental games begin !

Note this: ignoring the naked body walking around the room will get you a new version of men of Mars and ice planet babes. So while the ole stirring may be gone, keep the talk and message going or you will enter the " you don't find me...anymore" Twilightzone.

Assuming you had nerve-sparing surgery, the nerves will gradually recover, but it could take anywhere from 6-14 months.  Recovery is gradual.

In the mean time, it's essential to maintain the health of the erectile tissues by promoting blood flow.  This can be done with daily low-dose erectile medications, or with regualr injections.   (A vaccuum pump device "traps" blood in the penis, but doesn't promote blood flow.)

So I had some viagra in the cupboard that I never used that was several years out of date. I split one in half and with a bit of effort I was able to get something usefull going on.  I asked the doctor and his response was " if the nerves were damaged beyond healing this would not have happened"   so looks like I should be OK in time.

In the mean time I am OK with pills, I was told it can take up to 3 years to recover
