Treatment - HELP

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have had Rosacea for many years but just recently, because of added stress and anxiety I have had bad flare ups which Ia never really had before.

My Doctor will only prescribe Doxycyline or Metronidazole, not at the same time, these do not help, is there anyone that can suggest something else that will help.

I mentioned the new Soolantra Cream to the Doctor but was told that it could not be prescribed until consultants at the local Hospital started prescribing it.

    Hi scobie10

My GP initially prescribed Doxycycline which she insisted I continue for around 5 months despite no improvement.  I then went to one of the other GP's who agreed to my request for Oxytetracycline - miraculous improvement almost straight away and only had to take for about 6 weeks last spring.  Went back on it again for a few weeks earlier this year and with that and Metronidazole cream (Metrogel made it 100 times worse) which stops the flushing I'm virtually problem free apart from the odd smal red bump or two occasionally.  Obviously everyone is different but it might be worth considering.  Also, see another GP who is more open to suggestions. Alternatively you could ask for referral one of the hospital dermatologists who would then be able to prescribe Soolantra.

    I wish you luck.
