I was injured many years ago broken pelvis, now 30 + yrs later my back is killing me, MRI shows two bad disk, currently getting injections, but they aren't lasting but about 40 days at the most. I can only get the injections every 3 months. I don't like taking strong meds. I can only sleep about 3 to 4 hrs, then pain wakes me up.

To answer your question, please try to access the Lower Back Pain Video by Dr. Shane Burch, a spine surgeon with the Univ. of Calif. Medical School...Please do a Google Search to find it....You'll learn that the pain can be caused by many things and depending on the diagnosis may require surgery or another treatment....There's a Lower Back Pain Symptom Checker and Recommended Treatmrent List on the internet. Do a Google Search for it too...If you have Spinal Stenosis, then the best treatment is surgery...You tend to have pain in multiple areas of your body, ie. lower back, legs, buttocks, etc. with spinal stenosis...
Of course, you can set-up a consultation medical appointment and tests with a Pain Center or Spine Surgeon to determine for sure.....GOOD LUCK!.....

thanks for the information, my GP said for me to say the word and he would refer me to a neurosurgeon. Just afraid have heard to many bad back surgery results, and don't want a long recovery time.

Its the best way to fix a herniated/bulding disc they never fix themselves thru any form of treatment.
Dont nt wait for it to get worse and take care of it to have a better quality of life.
i have three repaired that way and in a few days I was back in the normal day other than a few restrictions by the doc for heeling.
