Cronic cough and waking up feeling sick

2 years ago I got a cronic cough. Saw a specialist and he can't see anything.

Then I noticed if I fell asleep only on the sofa and only in the evening when I wake up I feel sick and dizzy. Has anyone had this this and been treated pls.

    Sounds like symptoms of reflux, particulalrly extra-oesophageal reflux (often referred to as "LPR" ) .

    Refluxate (and it doesn't have to be acidic) can aspirate into the respiratory system. Chronic cough is one of th emost commonly reported symptoms of this.

    Nausea on waking is also associated with reflux if your stomach wasn't empty before reclining. Dizziness (peripheral vetigo) is also a symptom.

    I get a persistent cough with reflux with very occasional nausea but no dizziness.

      This makes sense as I suffer with acid indegestion and I am on tablets for this and the specialist said to take 2 gavason a night so I will try this and also not fall asleep on sofa. Thank you this has really helped. If no better I will go back to doctor to see if I can get something else. What do you take.

      I was prescribed omeprazole years ago when the acid was bad and it worked.  However, now I just use Gaviscon because the acid is not so constant.

    This use to happen to my mil. She stopped drinking diet coke and was miracously done with coughing. Not sure if that helps but it's worth mentioning . Hope you feel better.
