Botox treatment. Don't know what to do???

Hi all

I've suffered from an anal fissure for about a year now. To start it would be every few months and last a few days then go, then it would happen monthly and at present have had one for three weeks and as you all know the pain, i was practically climbing the walls.

Doctor referred me to a colorectal specialist and I can say I have never met anyone so rude in all my life! I had the examination with a camera and confirmed a fissure but she is not very forthcoming with answers I am unsure of the degree of the fissure as she just stated it was a fissure and my next step is Botox treatment.

So three weeks of agony and then the pain stops a week before my Botox just a tender pain. So when I go in for my treatment I'm faced with do I have the treatment of not as it seems to settle. I decide to not have it and try and get on top of it myself as I am petrified of needles and the consultant will not sedate me to do it. Is this the norm to not have anything when you have it done? please help advise as I know that if I'm honest this fissure will happen again as is always in the same place where I get it x

Change your diet. Since you get them frequently, up raw veggies and raw fruits. Drink smoothies and drink soup. Stay away from cheese and bread. Drink 40-50 oz per day of water. Your poop will be super soft and allow the fissure to heal.

Soak in baths and use prep H 3 times a day.

In the meantime find another colo doc. That one is not sympathetic

Hi sazsaz I sympathise with you on this.

I agree with txbootsy....how is your diet? You really need to drink 2 litres of water a day, lots of veggies, NO red meat, lots of oily fish like salmon! Vitamins like magnesium, zinc, Cod liver oil, vitamin e will all help your skin and stools. Do all of this and you could avoid Botox.

Unfortunately for me I had my fissure for over a year (yeah I don't know how I coped either!) Because I didn't immediately change my diet I had to go for Botox. I was put out for mine and it was very painful for the next 1-2 weeks. Like knives up my number. I didn't think it had helped...after 3 weeks passed however I was fissure free and didn't experience any of that pain from the fissure again! And that was over a year ago smile try to sort it yourself first though but it depends how long you have had it?

Thank you for the replies. I admit my diet and fluid intake was poor in the beginning which is why I'm prob in this mess and I also suffer from ibs which prob doesn't help either. Since seeing the colorectal consultant and saying I wanted to see if i could get it too heal myself before I went for the Botox treatment I have changed it drastically with plenty of water, fibre, veg etc

Unfortunately though it is still there the pain is more a discomfort at the moment and prob not flared up to extreme pain as living on laxotives. Basically tried everything since my last post to get it to heal recto cream, Coconut oil, anusol with hydrocortisone, diltiazem cream and it stills there. I feel that it's got to the point that I've had it reoccurring for a year that's it got to the point it can't heal.

Did you have the Botox done in the uk as basically I'm being told that if I wanted to sedated or put under to have it done il be waiting 6 months. My doctor did say he can give me a local anaesetic Cream to start applying before I go in as I think I need to face it that il be having it done in Jan x

Sazsaz try to not use the creams....the only cream I used in the end is sudocream (it has zinc in it which is great for skin!) Maybe try this and obviously keep the diet good with lots of water and see if that helps things before you opt for Botox.

I waited 7 months for my appt. I had general anesthetic...I was never offered local!

don't have surgery!  Get Your fissure under control...Eat applie slices everyday until the symtoms go away and then eat apple slices twice a week forever.
