Hi Debbie, I started taking high potentcy magnesium and my symptoms are much better. It has to be high potentcy for some reason but mine have calmed down a lot. Sometimes I have 2-3 pills if I know I'm going to have a stressful day just be careful becaues it can make you go to the bathroom.

I was diagnosed with rls around 3 years ago and currently under a neurologist. I, like you started with extreme sleep deprivation, almost to the point of psychosis luckily a gps husband was a neurologist and the following day i slept for 15 hrs, it then crept into my life all day. I am now a zombie I take the neupro patch which is a slow release rigotine 8 x 30 mg of codeine phosphate and a very strong dose of pregabolin 2 x 300mg a day i also take 1 x 45mg of mirtazapine. I have had to resign from my job as a teacher. I'm currently waiting for pip and because of all this it lead to severe depression and anxiety. When I first saw the neurologist 3 years ago he did warn me it was progressive and around 2% of the population have severe rls like me. The feeling you get is one you cant explain, when I first was diagnosed i went 6 days without sleep, I now sleep around 4 hrs is a good night csome nights none, I hope yours doesnt progress as mine does but if theirs one drug i notice when I havent had them is oddly enough the codeine even the neurologist doesnt know why opiates help, but the pregabolin is also helpful but it nubs you i wish you luck as some people will tell you magnesium or a dirt is good for you i tried everything start off by telling your gp or neurologist they are reluctantto give the oatches as they are £100 a box!

Karl my symptons of rls are very much like yours. I've had rls since I was a child. I'm under a neurologist as well. The neupro patch of 4 mg was originally prescribed . I quit taking it at 8 mg as it didn't provided the relief I required. The neurologist really doesn't have a solution and is to refer me to the pain clinic as they have more experience in managing opiates.

I was on oxycotton for 1 week and my symptons of rls disappeared.

I am now trying medical marijuana and my symptons are slowly disappearing. Not sure if this is the answer but at this time it is working and I can get the sleep I require.

I am on the highest dose of Ropinerole the neurologist will give me but I am getting worse instead of better I suffer from disc problems and last year had a disc removed from my neck. I lose balance and lack coordination and am wondering if all this is connected unless I go to bed when completely exhausted, this in the daytime, I get 4 hrs sleep at best. I didn't know it could get worse!

I have had this condition for years and there are only 2 things that helped me. Clonzapam each night and either diazepam or Sevradol (morphine tablet) which I take when it's really bad.

You see with my rls its not really my legs, its my whole being, yes I get the urge to get up and instead of fighting it i work with it, ill go into the garden at 2am ill colour to concentrate on something, ive even painted walls, and an entire room in a night. Does anyone else have their rls in their entire being? I think the name rls trivialises the condition, when you suffer severe sleep deprivation it really is awful as I'm sure you've all suffered from. I've had to give up my career as a teacher  because I couldnt do my job dosed up on medication and 2 hours sleep, at most 4 hours in 3 years takes its toll i've lost 3 stone, suffer terribly with anxiety and has caused borderline personality disorder. I stopped going out, I stopped socialising all because of this whole body experience. I tried for 5 minutes to try to explain to the neurologistand he stopped me and said by not describing it youhave described it perfectly lol

Hi karl, that sounds terrible I'm so sorry you are going through that. I think all we can do is a trial and error of things. I hope you find relief!

    Hi Debbie

    I've had RLS for years.

Thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown, it was that bad.

If I lie down in the afternoon, one keg will start jumping feeling irritable.

Then, when I've kicked, stretched massaged that keg, the other leg starts.

    I'm on miropexin of. 18mg x 3.

I set my alarm for 7 days a week on my ohone to remind myself to take them.

I make sure I put tablets in a zipped pocket in all my hand bags as I forget to take them when going out.

Good luck and hope you find some relief.

HI Mary for your knee you have bone on bone have you tried the new stem cell procedure.  It is where they take some of your blood and put it into a machine and just takes out white cells and then they inject it into your knee and the cells are suppose to reproduce.  It is suppose to be very popular in states it has just come to Canada where are you from.  I guess it is very popular with sports players but in Canada most benefits does not cover it and cost is $500. and they recommend 3 times.  Hope this helps

Hi Debbie, my husband has rls for years, at least 10 years. He also have severe Crohn's. He used to kick every single night, even his hands will jerk. A few years ago, I was diagnosed with cancer and I started taking a few supplement, one of them it's the barley grass. I have had a nerve problem, although it didn't completely solve my problem, I find that the barley grass did improved it. Early this year, my husband started taking smoothie so I decided to add in the barley grass into his smoothie. On top of his rls, one of his calf muscle is always tired, it's like he has just finished running a marathon n every night I will apply medicated oil for him. He would go for foot massage but it never go away. After he started the barley grass, within weeks, his calf muscle issue were resolved. So we were quite happy. 3 months after he started on the barley grass, we slept in separate bedroom because I hv to take care of my young children. 6 months later we went on a family trip n I was pleasantly surprise that he no longer kick his leg. I was quite shocked really. Barley grass is high in chrophyll n it brings oxygen to other parts of the body thus improving blood circulation. I got it from green supreme. You can google it. My husband take about 12-15 capsule a day. I took out the powder Fr the capsule n add to his smoothie 2-3 times a day. I was taking it during chemo so I guess you can take it with your other med but best to hv 2 hours interval. I hv tried other brands barley grass but I find this one works better. I do not get a com mission neither do I know this people. Just sharing it

Hi Cassandra   Thank you very much for imformation how long did he take the Barley grass and if still taking it how many pills now.  I hope you doing alot better now with everything.  Where are you from USA or Canada.  Take care

Hi Debbie. I only noticed that the RLS stopped at 6 months. He was and still is taking about 12-15 capsules a day. There is no harm and some people said they feel less tired after taking the barley grass. I have a friend who has Parkinson, after taking it, she said she could walk slightly better. Chrophyll is supposedly good for the blood but by chance I found out that it helps with the nerve. I am not sure what is the connection. You can try since it is supposed to be good for our bodysmile
