Hysterectomy .... Hormones only 32

Posted , 5 users are following.

I had a hysterectomy 4 months ago I have just turned 32 so they left ovaries since op I am extremely hormonal. Get sypmtoms of a period once a month but hormones are constantly up and down from one extreme to another. Has anyone else experienced this? What about hrt? Any advice would be extremely appreciated as it is effecting my everyday life

Thanks Deborah..... I have been prescribed anti depressants for a good while as doctor reckoned it was because I was grieving it etc and that I was down due to not really dealing with it and being so young... I had terrible side effects they made me very groggy and I was taking to the bed all of the time I have 2 children and it just wasn't fair. I have been doing counSelling and through an error with doctor and prescription it's been two weeks since I have been on the tablets I feel great apart from hormones so with really thinking about things and help with the counselling I have realised I am not depressed I am trying to learn how to deal with such a big thing so young but it's actually my hormones that are the root of the problems.. The mood swings drastic ones the tears and anger the anxiety because I'm afraid of what mood is next and if I'm gonna shout or cry at my kids. The flushes, the crap food cravings. All these symptoms aren't solved by antidepressants and I know my body they weren't helping. I have made an appointment it's not untill Wednesday but hopefully doctor listens and I can get somewhere

Hi Amy, HRT does have a stabiising affect on your hormones. Hormones are such powerful things an can be a real pain! I have been taking HRT for 13 years and I know how I felt when my GP said he wanted me to stop (which I did) I felt awful, so I started taking them again. You can only try them and if one brand doesn't suit you then you can always change to another brand. Keep us posted. It's by sharing experiences like this that we learn and get our lives back smile
