Hidradenitis suppurativa and some doctors....

Had this skin condition for 30 yrs, the latest comment came from a DR i hadnt seen before, well everyone has their problems in life she said! was reluctant to sign me off, multiple lesions of late stage 3, her comment really made a depressing/painful situation even worse for me, had to see her as i went as an emergency, appointments are so difficult to get thesedays, at the end of my tether with some Drs attitudes towards this, how are you supposed to work when your body is constantly fighting infection? just fed up with being treated like a freak

I know people that don't have it don't understand the pain itching and terrible tiredness.I've not long been diagnosed but since I have the hospital and doctor have been useless the dermatologist said not food related when I asked so I said well what is it. She said don't know but lose a bit of weight and give up smoking that will help. So I said how do u know not food she said no proof and put me on antibiotics for 3 months and steroid cream then go back to see her. I work as a nanny so very busy and so difficult when have flare up or drainage and the tiredness is awful. Lots of us are here for you we know what ur going through. Take care and message any time

    Hi Sarah

?Your post is similar to what a lot of people seem to experience. I was also told to lose weight by the specialist, even though another one told me that with this condition, the weight is connected and it's really hard to lose weight even with diet and exercise!

?It seems like it's become too easy for the medical profession to blame everything on people's weight.

Have you looked at some of the posts on here about the ways in which people have managed to find ways of improving the condition? There's some really interesting and useful stuff.

?Stay positive, you aren't alone here.
