By therapist I imagine you mean physiotherapist?

If so, you are never too young to see a physiotherapist if you wish to. If you decide to, choose a Physio who is a specialist in rehabilitation after surgery.

Hello - you must be extremely frustrated and disappointed !  And what a total waste of your young life !

I cannot imagine why on earth your Dr. advised against seeing a therapist.   Your age has nothing whatsoever to do with thisl   If you were an athelete, you would be seen immediately and treated and you would be back on the track or whatever within a few months.

Book to see a Physiotherapist a.s.a.p.

I'm 72.   In April of this year, I had a total right hip replacement.  3 months later I fell down the stairs and broke my Tib & Fib and dislocated my Talus jnt.   I had surgery and now have a plate with 8 screws on one side and 2 huge screws on the other.      

3 months later exactly, I'm walking normally and have excellent rotation and movement in the ankle and foot; and am pretty much back to normal.   OK I still have some discomfort but it will go with each passing day.

It's been damned hard work on my part but I've been seeing my Physio every week since week 3 following the break when I had the cast removed and an air-walking boot fitted.  My Physio has been amazing and without him and his guidance I wouldn't be where I am now.

So my advice is - see a Physio NOW!!!

In your shoes I would immediately go to the physiotherapist. It's true that you are young, in your age I had to stand up and walk after almost 6 months of immobility (I was pregnant and had a problematic pregnancy period spent in bed). I was able to do everything apart from bending and picking things from the floor.

Now that I am 42, I see huge difference.

It's not always a matter of age though, what might interest you is the result (being able to walk properly).

So, I would find one and go without further thought.

Go to another doctor to prescribe you the therapies or tell your doctor you need physiotherapies.

My son broke ankle at the age of 20, he had surgery and did not need therapy. I broke a bone in my foot when I was 30. I limped for a wile but by a year all was good.

Physical Therapists have knowledge that Ortho Docs don't have. And they have a way of teaching that skill to the patient. I insist on a PT prescription with each new phase. The doc doesn't necessarily believe in it, but I do and I know how much it's helped me. Go for it!

I had surgery on july 27 have to get screws and plates..My doctor said i dont need therapy cause i was moving my ankle ahead of time so i just do my my excercise hopeful my limp go away IM ALSO YOUNG IM 26 i think u should START Pt
