Hi I got diagnosed 16 months ago and spent 5 days on iv in hospital had all the scans etc and signed off by the specialist.Had all similar pains on and off for last 5 weeks now finally hospital out patients gave me 2 kinds of antibiotics and bus cop an. The pain seems to have got slightly better moving down my stomach and the pain at the back of my belly button has eased. It is five days since the tablets and I'm still uncomfortable bloated windy and a little breathless (don't know if anyone else gets this )I worry its something more sinister although I was given all clear after scans etc and was told only diverticulitis was present is it normal for these feelings and pains ?should it be feeling better now? I'm getting worried and I feel the doctors don't really advise on food etc and what and how long to expect things to last thanks

The problem is we are all different. A diet for one will not suit another. I say eat what you fancy but only small amounts.

Your symotons sound typical. The biggest help I found is to avoid getting stressed.( easy to say but hard to put into practish). If able a gentle walk in the country side can be a big help.

Thanks love and yes it does stress me especially having to contact work if you don't have it you don't realise how bad it is. X

The breathlessness could be a reaction to one of the antibiotics. What were you given? You need to keep a food diary to see what triggers twinges and avoid those foods. I find tough red meats are a no no. Also sausages, seedy fruits and seedy bread. Nuts I chew up well. Probiotics put back the good bacteria and aloe vera juice helps with inflammation. Drink lots of water and avoid NSAIDs like Ibuprofen as they make this condition worse.

Hi there I'm on cefraddine 500 and metronidazole 400 and buscopan plus my usual meds .I do have asthma.one of my surgery doctors told me to increase seeds nuts etc which I did then I read on here these are all a nono during a flare up apart from when I've had my different scans cameras etc I've never been told foods to eat and avoid.x

Many people find they cannot eat nuts or sesds at all. If the advice was for the magnesium content then you can take a supplement. You have to find out through trial and error what you can eat as everyone is different. For imprk ing asthma getting your vit d up and taking NAC would work better than eating nuts and seeds.

I get very bloated, windy and breathless. This is a really horrible condition and takes its toil emotionally. To think this is not considered a condition that you can retire with on ill health grounds is a crime. I'm really struggling to keep going into work every day with such pain, discomfort and looking 6 months preganant, not a good look for a man in his prime. Keep smiling though and don't let it get you down. Good you got the all clear and yes it's very flustrating that doctors don't really see, to know what to advise.

I have had this for 8 weeks now and have been to er.  Liquid diet seems to help but, as soon as I introduce some normal food it flares up again. After 3 rounds for antiboictic, pain medicine, probiotics the Dr. says on the solution is surgery to remove the affected area.  Does anyone know if this has been sucessful long term solution.  I know surgery is always a risk but, I can't live in constant pain.
