Diabetes 3 and 4?

My wife was rushed to hospital in August with what turned out to be pancreatitis.  She's slowly recovering, but her pancreas and gall bladder are still affected and she's needing variable doses of insulin to keep her blood sugar controlled.

She says she's been told that different parts of her pancreas are working on and off, and the result is 'a mixture of type 3 and type 4 diabetes'.

Anyone heard of this?  A web search says that type 3 may be a thing but seems to be associated with Alzheimer's.  A search for type 4 yields only sites which carry serious security warnings from my antivirus software.

I haven't yet been able to get hold of the hospital's diabetes team to ask them about this.  Like most specialist nurses these days they're pretty stretched.

      Go to your GP if you have diabetes you can go on a free one day course. All about diabetes and diabetes management.

      I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes 18 months ago and sent on four two hour courses spread over a month.  It was held in a classroom situation with a dozen or fifteen other fellow sufferers all of whom were at different stages of the disease and on different medications.

      Week one was by a diabetes nurse, two was a physiotherapist, three was a dietitian and week four  a podiatrist.  

      The presenters all stood at the front of the class and because of my deafness and at my age (75) I was barely able to hear what they said when facing front let alone when they turned to their flipcharts or addressed questions to or from the "audience".

      All the others seemed to know what they were talking about and I felt like the only one who didn't have a clue.

      I've had Pernicious anaemia for 45 years and have regular B12 injections via the surgery nurse and when I asked her some advice about diet etc she said "Sorry.  I don't do diabetes"

      Fortunately my six monthly HbA1c tests range 40 in Aug 2015, to 43 in February 2016 and 44 in August 2016 but what those numbers mean is beyond me when everyone else's numbers on here are all at sixes and sevens.
