My girlfriend has a sharp burning pain in her arm. Pins and Needles in her fingers tips.

Hi, for the last couple of weeks. My girlfriend has been experiencing a sharp burning pain in her arm and occasionally a pins and needles feeling in her finger tips. This is after being diagnosed with low B12. Which has since been treated with injections (Her last blood test showed everything was normal).

The sensation also gets worst at night and she said that It seems to be spreading to her back as well. She's only 22 and I'm 24. I love her more than anything and I'm terrified that she might have something serious. We live in the UK and we're waiting for a referral to see a specialist. But, I thought I'd write on here. Just to see if anyone is going through anything similar, is there any relief and have they had a diagnosis? Any help would be welcome.

Could be a disc pressing on a nerve in her neck, C 3 or 4.

Anthony, I'm sorry your girlfriend is in pain. Having lived with Peripherial Neurapathy for over 15-years I can truly relate.

You've obviously found this particular web site in search of some relief for her. Peripheral Neuropathy generally is caused by diabetes. That being said I'm one of the few who are what they call ideopathic. That means thus far they have found no cause

PN cause pain and numbness first in the feet, legs, arms and hands. The pain ranges from mild burning and tingling to shooting pain and burning pain that feels like you've just scorched yourself with boiling hot water.

You don't mention anything other than the tingling or if your girlfriend is diabetic. You've done one thing right so far. You've made an appointment with a specialist. You could try use some warm compresses or one of those pain patches. No success with me but I've others saying that this was helpful.

I pray that God will comfort your girlfriend. Hopefully the specialist will be able to help.

May God be with you both as you try to find relief. You're a good man for sticking by her side during this trial.

    Blessings

I have similar pain. I had a herniated disc in my neck C5-C6. I had surgery. It didn't help me. I have pain in both arms. It is great you are a supportive, caring boyfriend. I hope she gets the right diagnosis and gets better. Nerve pain is hard to live with everyday. Your girlfriend probably has a herniated disc in her neck. A doctor will need to find out for sure. Good luck.

My girlfriend isn't diabetic as far as I know. Although, maybe that's worth checking out. I'm not sure if she has ever been checked out for diabetes to be honest. I'll have to ask once I've come back from work. And thank you for the replies so far. It's reassuring to know that she's not the only one going through this or something similar.

    Hi Anthony,

Very sorry to hear about your girlfriends symptoms. I have some of the same symptoms as your girlfriend. Started out as shoulder pain and now in both arms, burning, tingling. My blood tests were normal. I was misdiagnosised with bursitis. I am having a myelogram today and will hopefully have a correct diagmosis.

I had the same pain burning thobbing pain in my shoulders, went down my arms to thw point i couldn't sleep lying down, extreme skin sensitivity, numbness in arms in spots. I have had numerous MRI's, Nerve Conduction Test and EMG's. I have since been diagnosed with post partum parsonage turner syndrome. (Its a minor % that occurs post partum ) try and get a referral to a neurologist if you can.

Just another update. My girlfriend had a Nerve conduction test and a blood test. Everything came back normal. Although, that should be good news. We feel like we're at square one again and her pain is getting progressively worst and spreading.

There's not a day that goes by that I don't worry. But, I'm trying to stay strong for her. She has another doctors appointment next week. I want her to push for a MRI or EMG test. But, that'a ultimately in the doctors hands. I'll let you guys know what happens. Thank you again for the replies. It helps a lot.
