Diagnosed with Crohns and running fever

I was admitted to the hospital for about 3 days whee they ran a few tests. I was diagnosed with Crohn's about two weeks ago. They put me on Pentasa and sent me home. The Pentasa has helped some with the pain but hasn't completely taken it away and I've been running a fever between 99.0-100.9 and it is concerning me. Any ideas as to what to do or why it isn't going away?

    As with any fever, if you've had it for a couple of days you really need to go back to your doctor or specialist consultant.

    This happens with Crohns sometimes and can indicate an infection...... best to get some medical attention.

    Hi, I've recently started on pentasa and was told studies indicate 4-6 weeks is required at 2x 2g a day. I'm 3 weeks still with some feverish symptoms , fatigue and some pain. All of these perhaps slightly improved.

    I'd say if in doubt, or if you're after peace of mind go see a GP as a starting point. I'd also recommend Crohns & Colitis UK to help get up to speed with this recent change that will take a little getting used to, but many on here manage well via meds and learning some self management skills, diet etc. This forum is also great for support. I hope the pentasa kicks in shortly.

      I have read mixed reviews of Pentasa. For some

      It works right away and for others not at all.

    Hi,  Totally agree with the reply UKMattG gave you.  I have been on Pentasa now for 6 years and it is working fine for me although it does take time to kick in.  Stick with it but if you still have the fever I would get this checked out.  Also join the Crohns and Colitus site.  It is very helpful and you realise you are not suffering on your own.  Stress and diet play a huge part in this illness, that is in my findings.  Wish you all the best and hope you get things sorted soon.

      Thank you for the response. It's good to hear another person's experience with Pentasa. I'll definitely look at the site since it's being recommended by a few people. Thanks again for the help.

    Give your gi nurse a ring.

    i have fevers in a flare. They may check your bloods and add a steroid to get the inflammation down if that's the cause.

    it could just be a virus of some sorts as there's loads of germs flying about !
