Did I finally find the cause of my IBS?

This is maybe a bit of a long question but:

A year or so back I was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) after numerous bloodtests, endoscopies, physical exams, etc. Right after I was diagnosed I obviously did research and tried to figure out the best way to cope with my symptoms, which I feel like I have at this point. However, probably due to a move to a different country and as a result a change in eating habits I had symptoms flare up again recently. This lead me to do research again.

I found a wikipedia article that said that IBS could be caused by an acute gastroentiritis infection which is often caused by Campylobacter. Can you tell me if wikipedia is right?

Quite a few years ago now I had food poisoning and the doctor's test showed that it was campylobacter. Could this be the reason for my IBS?

I know that it doesn't change anything for me at this point, but it would be nice to get some clarity.

At the time you should of received antibiotics to clear the infection.

Any gastroenteritis infection can be the start of ibs. It aggravates the lining of the stomach causing ibs. Ibs just means a cramping and inflammation of the stomach without a known reason or cause.

Things can help like a high easy to digest fibre diet (low complex fibre). Probiotics. Reduction of stress. Check whether made worse by gluten or dairy. Low processed sugar. Less caffeine.

If I didn't receive antibiotics can it still be the cause?

I thought it was helicobacter? I have had both. But I also discovered after years of having IBS symptoms that I didn't have it at all. I have auto immune disease. With treatment no IBS symptoms. I always knew it wasn't IBS. Sometimes it is a default setting for specialists to say IBS when they don't actually know what it is. X

In my case the camphylibacter went away of ots own accord. Helicobacter can hang around long term causing problems and needs anti biotics. Check with a doc x

yup. post infectious ibs is common. funily enough my GI issues started after campylobacter too (treated with erithromycin), but it was acute chronic gastritis to start, then moved to constipation and gas, and eventually D in the last few years.
