Hello, sorry for the long post and bad english. I had a bad fall 3 months ago. After I fell, my left foot had a sharp pain, I can still walk but its so painful that I had to stop and rest several times. I didnt see the doctor or put ice on it as that time i dont think its important. I thought it was just a simple fall and the pain will go away on its own. So my foot swell a little and had slight bruise. Now after 3 months, I can walk and jump on it without feeling pain but when i twist my foot inwards, i felt vague pain. I didnt feel that pain when i did the same motion on my normal foot. I also noticed if i walk for a long time, I feel throbbing pain in my injured foot. And there's still a little swelling on my midfoot. After doing some googling, i think i might have midtarsal joint sprain. Is it normal for my foot to still hurt after 3 months? Should i see the doctor? My dad wont take me to the doctor because I can still walk normally on it. Should i insist him? Btw, i have had an ankle sprain before on that injured foot, but I think it has completely heal.

Hi Alya
My advise would be to go to the doctors.
Your feet are your foundations and one can't be cautious enough. No disrespect to your dad but he's not an expert in feet is he? If you do indeed have an injury and if left untreated could end up in you suffering later in life and trust me that wouldn't be wise . Gd luck and I hope your foot is better soon.

Hi Nikky, thanks for the advice! I've gone to the doctor yesterday, after moving my feet in certain motion, the doctor said i have only torn my ligament and that it is still in healing process. But it still doesnt satisfy me though because he didnt give me an xray or anything. He also didnt give me any medications and only ask me to put on ankle guard. I also had a feeling that he's not really interested with whats going on with my foot. He didnt ask me much questions, only about how i injured my foot. I also tried to explain to him what kind of motion makes me feel pain, but he keeps on twisting it not according to what I tell him. So my overall experience is not quite giving me the answer that i needed. What should I do? He's a general doctor btw(idk the right term for it sorry). Should I see a real foot specialist or something? Should I have an xray taken? Help me 😭 i'm so worried. Thanks in advance!

Turning your foot in is termed inversion, the sole turns medially, towards the center of the body.
Yes, anywhere two bones come together and form a joint can be sprained.
Did you consider the tendons and muscles as well as the bones?
In university anatomy we played a game...we would touch a spot and then name every anatomical part below our finger.

Hi! Thanks for the info. I'm also starting to consider fracture maybe? But i'm not sure because I can still walk with no pain and minimal swelling. It's just that when i move my foot in certain motion, it's still painful. I do remember however when I initially injured it, it swell quite big and I had a hard time walking because of the pain. And the pain is only felt at certain part of my foot especially along my 5th metatarsal.

Thanks for the advice mary! I've gone to the doctor yesterday, unfortunately, he didnt give me an xray. And he doesnt seem too interested with my injury. That kinda annoys me. He said its a torn ligament based on only twisting and turning of my foot. He's a general doctor (idk the real term sorry, i hope u get what i mean), should i see a foot specialist and get xray done? I'm worried there will be future complications. Thanks in advance!
