Could this be related to UTI issues?! Help

Hi,

A good number of years ago now I was getting recurring UTIs along with cystitis. I was given antibiotics that seemed to clear it, only for it to return a few weeks later. This went on for almost a year and I was being referred to a specialist when one time my doctor gave me a double dose of antibiotics and it cleared it. So didn't need to go see the specialist.

In March 2015 I started getting really bad headaches and given antibiotics for a sinus infection. Shortly after that I started suffering really bad flare ups of nausea, softer, paler coloured bowel movements when i am feeling sick and i am really struggling to eat due to feeling so sick. This progressively got worse and I have been in hospital for lots of tests to look at my stomach all to which have been normal. I am still suffering to this day.

In July 2016 I took another UTI and was given antibiotics to clear it again. A week later I felt like it was coming back however it never did come a head.

I am still attending my doctors to find out the issue of the nausea and they recently took bloods and have told me that my cells that fight infection are lower than what they should be so I am needing the bloods redone (I think these are my white blood cells).

I have a urine dipstick at home and tested my urine. It is showing up: URO 2+, NIT+, LEU 2+, SG 1.025.

I do not have any pains when I pee or the urge to go. My urine can be quite dark in colour, very yellow, which I find strange as I drink a lot of water. Could I have an infection somewhere with these results on the dipstick? Also wondering if these flare ups of nausea etc that I am getting, if it is related to my kidneys, liver, bile ducts or something?! Anyone else had something similar? Help please!!

HI...so sorry you are having all these issues!  I am having some of the same issues myself and am going to a Urologist now.  Did they do Ultrasounds on you?  With all the antibiotic usage try taking a probiotic to get the 'good bugs' back into your body to help fight off infections.  I am drinking Kefir now and it seems to help.  Good luck and keep me posted please!  N

Hello Nancy, thank you for your reply. I got an Ultrasound scan done last year when this whole nausea situation began however everything looked normal. Things did begin to get a lot worse after that though.

I know, I have tried probiotics but they didn't seem to help me but I maybe will start them back again or even try the Kefir drink, heard that is good. Glad it is helping you a little. Sorry to hear you are in a similar situation. Hopefully when you see the urologist they'll have some answers and tests they can do! Keep me posted on how you get on too and I'll do the same of course.

      Thanks again. Lorne

Hi am in the same boat, i started feeling that sick way and have frequent utis am beginning to wonder if all the bacteria is causing the sickness feeling , plus i have lost some weight, low b12 runs in my family and can cause low stomach acid (so going to go back to gps to discuss it) as they dont always check b12 , plus i have low bicarbonate which they never check this was a private blood another thing to ask about, my ultrasound show uetrine fibriods i dont know if that could be pressing on my bladder and causing a build up of  bacteria am at a loss i feel so ill with the utis its constant.

Hello,  Thank you for your reply.  I am sorry to hear you are also going through something similar to me.

I will need to ask my doctor to check some other bloods that they don't always do in case something is being missed.  It does sound like it could be a build up of bacteria.  Hopefully your GP can look further into this for you.

With all the antibiotics you've been fed on I suggest you get your Vitamin B12 and Folate (B9) levels checked by your doctor.

Hi Clive,  Thank you for your reply.

I will ask my doctor if she can check my B12 and B9 levels at my next appointment.

      Thanks, Lorne
