Hi, has anyone used Amurin (Azathioprine) for Oral Lichen Planus and how are you getting on with the med, i am just starting...patrick

    Hi Patrick, I have an appointment with my oral pathologist in a few weeks to discuss other treatment options. How is the Amurin working for you?

      Hi Hope, well it didnt work out for me as i had a bad reaction to it after three weeks and five days,amurin dosent work right away as it has to store in body fat and this takes varying times as we are all different..i have contacted my Rheumatoligist and he is going to give me another type of med so for now its back to Naltrexone and mouth wash and predensol steroid for a week , so it will be after christmas before my appointment with the Reumatoligist..amurin might work for you so all the best for christmas..

      Hi Patrick,

      Naltexone was on my list to ask questions about as well, my pharmacist suggested it. I'm assuming it's not working the best for you considering you are looking for other options??

      To date I have only used a Dexamethasone rinse and although it helps knock it down substanially, I'm not symptom free; I worry what the steriod is doing to my teeth and gums - I've been on it for 3 months (using it once per day).

      I'm also on the autoimmune diet and have been for a few months, my skin has cleared for the time being with minimal treatment of steriod cream, I will most likely continue to eliminate dairy, all grains, soy, sugar and corn.

      Hi, about the Naltrexone...it does help me to sleep and it also helps in a small way with my oral blisters and some people say it is magic for them also no side affects ...so we must keep searching for our particular answer...merry christmas..p

      is an opioid antagonist. Are you sure it's spelled this way?

      If so I would be interested to hear how it works on LP.

    Hi there. I know I'm late in replying but wanted to add what my treatment is. I'm in the UK and am prescribed Flixonase Nasules ( Fluticasone Propionate) which I dissolve in 10 mg of water and use as a mouth rinse.  Maximum dose is three times a day but I'm just doing once a day, before bed, at night.  Works wonderfully for me.

      Hi Gill, thank you for the reply and it is great timing as i was taking Imuran and i had a bad reaction to it, the Imuran (immuo suppressor) works great for some people but not for me, i will be seeing my Rheumatoligist after christmas and i will keep you up to date ..

      Thanks! I will research this too! Have you ever been perscribed an antimalarial such as palquenil or doxycyline?

      No, in the past I've tried Corlan things that I dissolved in my mouth, soluble Prednosilone as a mouthwash and a horrible paste that I put on my tongue. None worked. I have check ups at my local hospital 's Maxiofacial Department and they referred me to Liverpool Dental Hospital earlier this year for a second opinion....and another biopsy of my tongue. It was one of the Dental Specialists who suggested I try the Flixonase even though it's really for noses as they had been getting good feedback from patients about it. Works well for me and I've told my local Maxiofacial people about it too. My GP has me on repeat prescription for it and I'm very happy. No problems and I can eat what I like.

    Hi. Thanks for your replys, it's super helpful to hear other options. My Oral Pathologist also mentioned using Palquenil or Doxycycline, they are antimalarials which are antibiotics. Have either of you tried one of these?
