Hi donna18720, Yes you would see a dermatologist. My last major flare of LP was 10 years ago and didnt know exactly who to see I was treated first by my GP then my rhematologist who referred meto the dermatologist. Thats where I got my treatment with steroid injections and oral pastes. He prescribed nystatin mouthwash and dyfucan. The steroid injections were given every two weeks until it seemed to slowly get better. I had terrible mouth sores and ulcerations and my lips burned and itched like crazy. I hope you dont have to suffer for long and you get the help you need. Best of luck. God bless you.

Thank you so much. I've had it for about a year now but it was not painful until now, just a lacy white rough area on my inside check. Now it is getting worse. My oral surgeon just said I'll always have it, no cure. So I'm glad for your information. I would have thought a dermatologist was just for the skin. I'll ask my GP for a referral Thanks so much

Hi, Yes you will have it forever and there isnt a cure but hopefully you can get this flare under control before it gets worse. I had my LP for a year also. I actually had two more flares but the doctor knew what I responded to and they didnt last as long as the first outbreak. I was surprised that a dermatologist would specialize in this and obviously my GP didnt even know this. Good luck and dont get discouraged. Be patient thats the key I think because it doesnt happen overnight. Some people suffer for years. God bless.

Thanks so much for your answers. Did you have a biopsy to confirm your dx?

Everybody is different thats for sure a somethings work for one person and not the other one.im sorry that it didnt work for you. Did you find a treatment that helped? I hope so. God bless you.
