Hello, I was recently diagnosed with Menieres Disease. My doctor gave me an Rx for Lasix and one for Meclazine, and told me to watch my salt. My episodes have recently gotten worse. I've heard the change of seasons can influence it.? My ears constantly feel full; full of warm water, and if I'm out in the heat at all, it almost feels like a boiling heat. I inevitably get a feeling of dizziness, and only time will tell if I end up with severe spins or not. Sometimes i have a hard time breathing lately. Is this a symptom too? Does anyone feel filled up with fluid?
I have also noticed that my saliva is slightly thicker at night only. I'm searching for answers until I can go to a specialist of Menieres in San Francisco. Grateful for suggestions! Thank you.

Thank you so much for your reply, and for your suggestions and wisdom! I will most definitely give this a try. I'm so exhausted, and my foggy thinking has taken on a higher level of "foggy" and I'm so grateful to learn about the things you have suggested!

I was given dyazide when I was first diagnosed. It is potassium sparing, which lasix is not. I am not sure if lasix also has one of the same side effects of dyazide. You will become sensitive to sunlight and will need to use sunscreen or cover up. I have noticed that going outside on a hot day will make me less resistant to the heat itself. You need to be sure to increase your fluid intake to make up for the fluid lost to lasix and keep your potassium intake up. I have felt like there are balloons in my ears even before the diagnosis. This got better over time but has not entirely gone away. I have also felt that feeling of not being able to breathe that you describe. I am not sure what it is but it may be an anxiety episode, a lot of people have described that. I have been able to bring it under control to date. I found that response to the medication took time and it was almost a year before things settled dow to the point where I am now. Still not 100% and don't expect to ever see that. Adjust your activity accordingly, keep your fluid intake up (you should keep your urine relatively light colored) and mond that you keep potassium in your diet (your body needs potassium to function properly and too low potassium can lead to cardiac arrhythmias.

They gave me a prescription diuretic when I first went in but I am so sensitive to med and got side affects from them. So I searched out natural diuretic and called my Doctor. She said to definitely try it. Side affect of Horsetail is strong nails and hair. I take it 3 times a day. Just find what works for you. I have no feeling of heat in my ear. But have had some anxiety especially when first diagnosed. My ear doesn't feel full anymore. I wish you the best! Good luck

Thank you Donna! I really do appreciate your response! The heat and sunlight is very interesting, isn't it. I work in the yard often ( something I used to love) and when this first began, I noticed my ears would fill up after working in the heat. Mine began with a butterfly "fluttering" sensation and it wasn't until later that it turned out to be M.D. I would feel toxic on so many occasions. I thought it was for the fact my body just felt tired. (One more note....Before the first episode, I had received botox injections, and I had even questioned that as a cause. Thanks again!

Horsetail, calcium magnesium, ginger, Vinpocetine, Gingko Leaf, OmeGA 3, Niacinamide 500mg, Chromium Picolinate, B -12, Coq10, and a daily vitamin with no synthetic ingredients. Yes they have completely got me back on track. I take 0 prescriptions. My Doctor was very helpful and supporive of my search for good supplements that wouldn't give me other issues.

They put me on something for dizziness. They took me off of it because it wasn't helping. I have ear pain some and very sensitive to noise. My right ear is strarting to feel full. They took me off BP meds because they thought it might be them causing the problems. Because i was put on them at the beginning of September. I had been on them before but was off of them after my weight lose surgery. Im just so worried that i won't ever have a life again. Sometimes im just sitting and i get real hot and sweaty and then get dizzy. Sometime nauseated.

I couldn't take the prescription diuretic either. I went and got horsetail. It's a natural diuretic you can buy it at a whole foods store. I take it 3 times a day. I keep my salt intake at 1000mg a day. This should help you too. So sorry
