Seroquel Withdrawal

I've been on 800mg of seroquel for over a year for insomnia. I do not have bipolar or any other psychiatric disease. 800mg is no longer making me sleep so I want to stop taking it completely. It was researching withdrawal symptoms that I found out I was prescribed a very high dose of a serious medicine with no talk about the seriousness of the medication. Apparently I should never have been prescribed 800mg nightly just for insomnia. I'm terrified to come off this medicine but since it no longer helps my insomnia I have no reason to stay on it. Is there anything that can help me withdrawal? How long should I expect symptoms?

800mg for sleep is crazy. 25mg is what I take and it helps great. The lower the script of Seroquel the better it works for sleep. The higher the script the more it works for other illness's. Just taper off of it slowly.

800mg for sleep? It really annoys me when doctors prescribe massive doses off label! Quetiapine is an antipsychotic primarily used in the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar depression, not sleep. Sorry OP, not mad at you, but your doctor is an idiot grrr....

that is ALARMINGLY high!  It sounds like your body could be toxic having an adverse reaction. Its called an overdose when the med stops working.
