I had a series of four shots of dexmethasone into the ear last year.  It stopped the vertigo attacks that I had started getting again.  I had no side effects.  Because I had a small perforation in my eardrum, they went through that and it was painless.  I don't know how it is for people who need the needles to go through the eardrum that is intact.  I think they use local anesthetic for that.  But my perforation was in the correct location so it was easy for me.  My ENT doctor told me that it could be done again if the benefits started to wear off in time.  I haven't neede them again.

Did it also take away like the full foggy feeling? And how long have you been dizzy free and I get a dizzy episode about every 8 months for a month so I'm debating

Did it do anything as far as your hearing I'm about 20 percent good in left ear with varying degrees of noise/tinnitus

It did not take away the full feeling and I still get the foggy feeling from time to time.  I have not had a serious vertigo attack since I had the shots.  I get the feeling it may be coming on once in awhile (too much sodium or stress maybe) but laying down and being quiet heads it off.  (I take low dose Diazapam too when those feelings come).  I had gone for 7 years with no vertigo, but summer of 2015 the attacks came back.  After 5 episodes in 8 days, my Dr encouraged me to get the shots.  The attacks ended after the shots and have not come back.  It doesn't do anything for the hearing loss or the tinnitus.  It seems to just calm down the inner ear, as it is a steroid, and the spinning stuff goes away.  yay. I wear a hearing aid in the bad left ear, which helps in both the hearing and tinnitus.  Right ear is good.

Sounds great how bad issuing bad ear I don't think a hearing aid would even work in mine as louder noises seem to make my bad ear vibrate? And even bring on the dizzies I wear an earplug in it if at a concert or noisy place as certain frequencies seem to irritate it. Have you experienced any of that?

Yes I had 2 steroid shots and it was nothing that made anything feel better for me. Then I took Gentamicin shot. The doctor told me that I would notice a difference in a week if the shot was to work. I did notice a week later I became very imbalanced and my vision was off. blurred vision and double vision. I laid around for a week thinking that I would get better but when I talk to the specialist he said absolutely not. You must get up and move around and teach your brain how to work with the changes. The Gentamicin kills off the one side a balance and you have to learn how to work off of the other side. If I couldn't do it on my own I was supposed to go to therapy. But I pushed forward because I wanted to feel better. I am coming around pretty good now still problems with vision and imbalance especially if you're walking in the darkness. But I will say that I have not had any vertigo or spinning like veneers issues since then knock on wood. If you have any other specific questions about the shots please feel free to ask and I will let you know whatever I know

Omgosh! Sometime's the worse!! You will also have tinnitus. ..learn to live with it. It doesn't get "fixed". At night when all is quiet is the worse for it.

So, loud noises, ambient noise. ...say...restaurants for example can be bad. Any loud noises really. Even your eye movement for example... if you are in a place and there are people moving everywhere or things moving around that can also set off an attack. Your eyes & your ear are extremely sensitive with Meniere's disease. Also anxiety and stress can set off an attack. So for example you have a date to get together with friends to go out to dinner and as the day progresses for example while you're getting ready you are building anxiety because you are afraid that the noise or the sights might set off a MD attack in public. That's when you need to get diagnosed with Meniere's by a doctor or a specialist. You need to ask for Valium by pill or Valium by liquid. The only thing that the Valium does is bring a sense of calmness over you so you can function at events. I also found that I always carry with special ear plugs that they give you when you have an MRI and I will put them in occasionally if needed.

Blues man, have you been diagnosed yet? If so they will talk to you about keeping your sodium levels to 1500 milligrams per day or less and they will put you on diazide medication which is a low level water pill basically to help keep the sodium levels down. Good luck it's a terrible disease to live with. That's why I went to Gentamicin injection route. I was at my wit's end. It's only been 3 weeks 4 weeks maybe most since I've had it. So we'll see I may have to get another one. Let me know how things work for you.

Have been to ent and yes on teyrachlorathyazide have not been officially diagnosed yet but have all the tell tale signs low frequency hearing loss on affected ear

I eat well and run or bike everyday but sometimes I feel like overexcercising triggers it as well

Loud noises restaurants etc are a reall annoyance feel like I'd be better if they just took that eardrum out it seems to vibrate and make things wobbly

Wjat kind of ear plugs are they? Sometimes I feel if a tissue stuffed in my ear works better than the foam ones you get Ina drugstore

They are like a soft foam that you can squeeze real small put it into your ear and then it expands to the size of your ear/ canal opening.

Yes, with each attack you tend to lose more and more Hearing in the affected ear. And the hearing those become very distorted especially when you have the fullness of fluid fill at different times.

I also find that working out extra hard, triggers symptoms.  I definitely can't exercise to the degree that I did, pre-MD.
