I am worried about recovery , if I don't have
Sling will I have stress incontinence, also a bit freaked when I see some people
Can't pass urine afterward

You have to remember thousands of prolapse surgery is performed every week and ladies who don't have any problems rarely join forums, why should they? They don't need advice. I didn't have a sling and I don't have stress incontinence, that was over 6 years ago. If you are so worried speak to your urogynaecologist again or a specialist nurse because going through an operation that worries you so much should not be considered lightly and perhaps the time isn't right.

Thank you, that is very reassuring, i def need the surgery, can't go much longer like this, also getting urinary tract infections frequently, so hoping it will sort that problem as well,

Make sure you do your research and before you see your urogynaecologist again write down all the questions you want answering. If there's anything you don't understand then ask. Don't be reading negative information on the internet because most of it is incorrect and scaremongering.

Iim six mos post op now had sling, not gonna lie, long healing process, but needd like you couldnot urinate before surgery was a stage three prolapse, the beginning is rough, but the key as matron told me is REST, REST, REST, I'm so glad I listened healed nice, do my pelvic floor exercises, and hhave estrogrn cream, good luck on ur journey, I no longer leak, which is a blessing, this site saved me cause I was lost, God bless

Hi, I had a sling 11 weeks ago. I couldn't empty bladder on the day of surgery. No success next day either. I stayed 2 nights at hospital due to this. I was discharged on 3rd day after the nurses confirmed my bladder had less than 100ml after peeing by ultrasound.
I had posterior repair as well which was so painful and still giving me discomfort. But the sling didn't bother me at all.
I wish I could found this forum prior surgery. Claire, you are lucky to find here. Good luck xxx

Hi Claire. I had hysterectomy,A&P prolapse repair and tvt at same time in April '16. I figured if I was recovering from 1 op why not have all together and it was needed. Due to stress of major op my catheter was left in 3 days before they tried to take it out. I wasn't emptying properly so they put it back in. I was allowed to go home day 5 with catheter still in and went back on day 7 to have removed and I was emptying ok by then. I was told that sometimes the bladder just needs to recover a bit longer and in my case it worked. I have no problems emptying bladder. On some occasions the flow is slow but it's better than leaking in my opinion. I have a friend who had tvt alone and it was 6-8 eeeks recovery alone but you have to ask yourself is it worth it. How bad is your leakage etc. It's the best thing I decided to do. I can cough laugh and sneeze in confidence now.

I have the sling, I really didn't have a problem with the bladder until I had the prolapse, then it was minor. But I could not live with prolapse, had cystecele and rectecele, both out of body. Forgot the number, was the highest they rate them.
I'm a very heathy and fit in my 50. My bladder not emptying has been my only problem. The doctor said the sling is to tight and needs to be loosen. ... which if it fixes, that would be great. I'm really not sure what to do. Now I can jump up and down, no worries. But if the sling is cut a bit, it could mess the repair.
It is very uncomfortable when the bladder doesn't empty all the way. My doctor, said 1 in 10 have a problem with the sling being to tight. Not sure if that's accurate.
