    Rahela;

    While we can only tell you what we have gone through and hope that can give you some answers or direction which may lead you to a solution, We are not doctors or medical professionals.  We cannot see what your doctors see's, and we do not have the medical expertise to give you all the answers.

    While it appears when people have an ear infection it is treated as bacterial (with antibiotics) or left to resolve itself over time.  In my case (and many others) this is how the medical community appears to work.  In my case I was on oral antibiotics by several doctors for about 2 months plus.  While people on many sites that I was on looking for answers had me spinning by telling me I had GLUE EAR, Needed an MRI and even escallated that by telling  me that I had to rush to surgery immediately and request certain proceedures. I choose to evaluate each post to me, and evaluate my situation.

    If antibiotics are not working, maybe you don't have a bacterial ear infection.  Maybe it is fungal.  ANTIBIOTICS do not work on fungal infections, and some antibiotics only work on certain strains of bacteria and infections.  This is why doctors have to choose certain antibiotics for certain infections.

    What did your ENT SAY?  Did he recommend a course of action or an action plan?  Is he trying to treat this infection now with some sort of antifungle since the antibiotics didn?

    I understand your pain and frustration.  I remember getting and taking the antibiotics for months.  I remember going to bed while taking an asprin for the pain and sleeping with my head / ear on a heating pad.  I remember using any old homeopathic remedy like warm sweet oil, olive oil, low percentage hydrogen peroxide and others to try to minimize the pain.  I just wasn't getting answers and no one really cared or appeared to care (in the medical community)

    My Primary Care Physician didn't want to give me a referal to an ENT.  His answer stood (which was live with your hearing loss and pain)  It would NEVER COME BACK!!!

    When I went to the ENT, if I didn't feel confortable with him, I would have looked for another.  And if yours didn't give you a plan or direction to follow I would seek a different one.  Your the one that has to live with this issue, NOT HIM or HER depending on the specialist.    If he didn't give you help, ask him or some other ENT where do you go next.  Each country, town have different ways that you have to deal with your healthcare needs, and you need to follow those.

    Whether starting from the bottom of the scale to the top, unfortunatly you can't skip step and get to the top.  if your GP / PCP can't help you than you needed to go to an ENT.  If the ENT can't help you or won't help you, you may need a different ENT or move to the next specialist above an ENT.  If surgery is recommended, don't rush into it, get a second opinion on that as well.

    We all want to help you, but we all have limitation of what we can do to help you.
