Good afternoon all.  I have a frined that I have know for 10 years He worked for me years ago.  He has Prostatitis from the age of 17.  His doctor told him that he may have gotten it from a infection when he was in high school.  He is on meds but his doctor started a new treatment on him.  *  Prostate Milking  *  He goes once or twice a month.  This is not new it has been out there for years.  A nurse does it in the office.  She take a probe and puts it in the retum and hits the prostates   He said the first time was ok.  It did nothing for him.  The second time he got excited.  The nurse said no problem seen it before.  She gave him a towel but first she said she needed a sample to check it out.  The reason the doctor is doing this now is to clean out the prostate and relieve the pressure on the prostate.  The doctor also said he is starting this on men over 30 because as we get older we do not have sex or masterbate as offen as we did as teens.  To me this make cents.  We must clean out the old cells so we can make new ones.  Take care  Ken

    I had heard about this, your friend is really young to have such problems. I'm sure the nurse had seen it all before but even so I think they should at least have a male nurse to do it! I don't know about the doctors view on men over 30!! I suppose clearing out the old does make sense, I could think of nicer ways to do it though LOL

    Isn't this the same as prostate massage? I've read that it can cause bigger problems if you have bacterial prostatitis

      I don't know what kind of prostatitis he has but the doctor checked the sample when he done.  Isaw my doctors nurse today and she is going to ask him about it.  Don't know if all doctor are going to do this.  Ken

    I have read that often the only place you can find the urine infection is in the prostate and that a sample of urine may have another infection which masks the one causing the problems in the prostate. I also have a form of thrush in my penis which is masked I believe by the urine infection but today when I went to our Doctor with problems swallowing she said it could be caused by the thrush. i am now totally confused.

      That is kind of confusing  I know you can get a bladder infection, prostate infection and a kindey infection.  Where do they start and what part do you blame  Ken  Hope you feel better

      Am now to be referred to a specialist dealing with Antibiotic investigations, but I feel that 2.5 years has been too long to be having continual infections and had I been released from hospital after Sepsis with a clean bill of health then I would not have any problems now. I keep getting flashbacks to Sepsis which is very worrying.

      That should have been taking care of long time ago.  We had alot of Sepsis in the 70's now you hear alot of it now.  I never want to go through that again.  With my stricture I have to watch.  If it get smaller it can send the urine back into my bladder and I will get a infection.  I report everything to my doctor.  Just was on Cispro 1000 for 3 days just in case.  Good luck  Ken
