hormone therapy side effects

Hello,

My dad finished radiation this summer and had his last hormone shot in August.  He had 8 months of hormone therapy. He continues to have hot flashes and also has headaches and dizziness.  Are headaches and bouts of dizziness typical side effects of the hormone shot?  How long after the last hormone shot will the hot flashes, headaches and dizziness cease?

Thank you so much for your time and assistance!

I can't assist you, but for others to best advise you, please indicate your father's age, how long he was receiving radiation and whether he had surgery prior to radiation.

Thank you- my dad was 73 when he had treatment. (He's 74 now). No surgery, just radiation and hormone therapy. He had radiation for 9 weeks.

Without knowing the details surrounding his cancer, its almost impossible to tell if the symptoms are related to doseage, or other issue. I, myself, have been on ADT with Elegard and have NO side effects. I am 75, willl have brachytherapy ( seeds ) in March. Im here in the US. Hot Flashes, etc, usually show up early. Id reach out to his Urologist or treatment specialist an get answers.

    Hi

Sorry to hear your dad is still suffering. My husband also had radiotherapy along with hormone therapy. He finished his hormone treatment some while ago and still

has an occassional hot flush, but did suffer with hot flushes and headaches for quite a while afterwards. They do gradually diminish though. Hope this helps your dad to cope, and wish him all the best.
