Urethra feels like it's on FIRE but no UTI?

Posted , 6 users are following.

Ok so I've posted in the UTI forum before because I have a reoccurring UTI I can't seem to get rid of (7 months off and on).

I did a culture last Friday and Wednesday they said it was negative. And then I just got home from the ER and the urinalysis there came back with WBC (5-10), RBC (0-3), and Glucose 300 (I know, super high). Everything else was clear.

They said they weren't gonna give me IV antibiotics or any in general because I didn't need them but they weren't sure why my urethra was burning.

Does anyone else have any ideas? It feels like it is on FIRE. I actually have been holding a cold rag to it as that's the only way I get relief.

I'm not sexually active and I have no STDs. Thank u.

You could try D-mannose, for somebody it works very well with UTI.

I think it's something like sugar extract but not by the common sugar. I read different opinions about it and IMO it's worth a try.

Yeah I read it too and would like to try it also. I just don't want to add sugar to my urine that already has it you know? I'll have to research more then. Thanks.

Hey! I've been having similar symptoms for over a year now and have been seeing a specialist, I've had an operation to dilate my urethra with no success, multiple antibiotics to take daily which gave me a reaction and then one to take before sex to prevent stis, neither worked so I am now onto a strong pain relief and being referred to a gynaecologist for investigation into endometriosis. I would advise seeing a specialist so they can assess you properly, you may have a hyper sensitive urethra, you may need to consume more water, you could be allergic to your toilet paper or soaps so try allergen free stuff, you may need more vitamins in your diet. There are endless reasons it could be unfortunately I have not found a cure for my problems yet but maybe someone can solve yours!

    Good luck!

I have been to a urologist and had a cystoscopy and a CT done plus some ultrasounds of my bladder.

I actually remember back in 2014, I was having pain in my urethra and I went to my OBGYN who said everything looked good on her end. I do have PCOS but idk if that would do it.

Thank u for the advice! I'll keep it in mind for sure.

Long story short. I was sick with a lot of pain for a lot of years. Finally diagnosed after surgeries not needed and many other tries with having IC and urethral syndrome. Those are the exact same symptoms I have at all times. Ice pack will help so will ibuprofen. I also take much stronger pain medicine on a daily basis just to be able to have any quality of life. The bad news is that there is no cure good news is that sometimes people go into remission. I have not in years. I buy over the counter UTI test. I'll take one every week and a half just to confirm I do not have a UTI to stay away from Doctor's too much. I get bladder instillations with lidocaine from my urologist that helps at times. Do not do those if you are burning. You can get them to prescribe you Pyridium or you can take Azo over the counter it will help with the burning. Chug lots of water. Some people say that foods you eat are problematic with these conditions. I actually have not found that to be true except for sodas ...High acidic Foods ...soda oranges bananas stay away from bananas and stay away from things with extremely high potassium. Be careful how you sit ..that will also trigger a flare. When the flare comes on.. the burning.. sit on your side Do not sit straight up . Ever.. Even with the ice pack or until you can get it to calm down. The only thing that really helps me and it is at a level 10 pain when it happens is ibuprofen my stronger pain medicine ice lying on my side Pyridium and lots and lots of water. I just came out of a flare from the urethra. It lasted from January 20th till two days ago. Make sure you take the Ibuprofen before you feel the pain once you start controlling it. Feel free to ask me any questions. Sorry for the pronunciation I am voice texting with my phone.

Oh wow! Funny you mention IC because my friend has it and I was recently asking her questions. I also joined an IC network to ask a couple questions about these same symptoms.

I eat bananas ALL the time. Prob one a day. So if that's the case then no wonder!

If I take an antibiotic, the pain relaxes some but it doesn't go fully away. Pyridium helps me a lot with the pain but it makes me feel like crap when I take it so I hate to take it.

The burning I feel, tho, feels like my urethra is on fire. And it never really goes away but some days it's worse than others. The move I more, the better I feel down there too.

I had a cystoscopy and he said my bladder looked okay. I have to go back and see my urologist next week because I've taken so many urinalysis' and cultures that he wants to see me again.
