I ve had mild phimosis for past few years and finally going to be sorted.
Just reading various posts and am worried about pain, infection and how long I will have to avoid any form of sexual activity. Lastly, do guys feel it's worth it in the long run.

What do you mean by "mild" phimosis? Can you fully retract when soft? What issues has it caused?
Have you already tried stretching and steroid creams, and have you considered preputioplasty? Circumcision would normally be a last resort. I think it would be worth it, but only if retraction is never possible and everything else has failed.

Hi
It doesn't fully retract no. I ve used steroid creams at times but that s not stopped me from having uncomfortable flare ups and now the underside of the foreskin has fused to the glans in three places. The doc had said this is the only way it ll get cured.

That sounds unusual, but you might be one of the rare cases where circumcision is the best option. If you're in the US, I'd consider a second opinion though, as American doctors seem to be very quick to recommend circumcision.
In your position, I'd want as little tissue removed as possible, and I'd definitely want to keep my frenulum.
There seem to be a range of views about how painful it is. Pubmed 23276514 (in Scotland) found this: "Pain is mild to moderate after circumcision in adults under general anesthesia with an intraoperative penile block. Severe pain is rare and mostly related to complications. Younger patients generally have more discomfort."
You'd need to abstain from sex (including masturbation) for around four weeks, and these links may help. The second one is written for doctors:

Good luck!
