Symptoms after PE's

Hi

I had pulmonary embolisms in both lungs in November and then had Pneumonia a week after discharge from hospital so was back in again.

I have been out of hospital for 7 weeks and although I do feel better in some respects (I can now walk and eat etc) but I am getting some symptoms that are concerning me, although I have been to the gp and see her nearly every week.

I get a chest heaviness that comes on randomly, the feeling of rapid / heavy heartbeats, disorintated and feel wobbly, catching of breath and then the feeling of can't breathe properly.

Does anyone else have or had any of these symptoms?

Yes sounds normal to me. I feel that way often weird cardiologist I have tells me to just keep going and sit down when I'm out of breath. So I do.

I mean I don't want my muscles to get all out of shape and weak. So I move then rest.

It's weird I lay down at night to sleep and calm my breathing. If I'm on my side my chest hurts for a while when I breath. Then I just drift off to sleep.

Lately though it's the nose bleeds that are driving me crazy. I've been getting nose bleeds I get cut and it clots but all of a sudden my nose will bleed go figure

      Thanks for the reply Windy8000.

It seems like I need to try and adjust to all that is going on with my body.  I did feel pretty ok earlier today and went for a small wander but now feel tired and achy.  Like you say, just do what you can and then rest up.

I am wanting to get back into excercise but I know that is going to take time, Am looking forward to hopefully getting back out on a bike smile

It has been a long time since I have done anything energetic.

I know what you mean! It's been awhile for me too. Of course my idea of out on the bike is my Harley. I may be 61 but I'm not dead yet!! Lol. I walk around the neighborhood with my granddaughters they are 12 year old triplets that live a block away. When my husband passed a few years ago I moved closer to my kids.

Right now cleaning the house is workout enough. Bending takes my breath away and. So my front loader washer and dryer is hard on me as well as the bathtubs.

The sleep Dr has me wearing a camera watch for a week to keep tabs on all my movements day and night so he can help figure why I de-sat in my sleep.

Hey a Harley, that must be fabconfused

I am sure that your granddaughters help with you getting out and about, and provide a great source of enjoyment, which we all need.

I know what you mean about housework...I hoover and dust and then feel like I have done a marathon! Yesterday Was not t too bad day, however today I feel really out of sorts and ache.

Back to the gp again later..neutral

My next Dr appointment is the 15th when I go in for my echocardiogram on the 15th. I have to get up off my bottom and clean house before bf comes home. I want him to know what I can do when he isn't sitting around under foot. He sure isn't much help.

The grands (all 5 of them) are what keeps my heart beating. My husband of 41 years died of a massive brain bleed 2 years ago. It was and really still is hard without him. I was so used to taking care of him. His brain bleed was the result of 6 stents they put into his heart 3 weeks earlier. He didn't Qualify for a quad by pass so the put in 6 stents. It was the best he had felt in years!! I had begged the Drs to do a cath for years and they didn't see a need. He had Veterans insurance.

I am so sorry to hear about your husband, it must be very difficult for you.

Good luck with your doctors appointment, I am sure things will be improving.  You should get your bf to see how the hoover works and suggest to him that it would be nice to share the chores, especially as you are not 100% at the moment.  Buy him a duster for Valentines!

No, I'll just get bf a gas card and send him on a road trip every time I need some space and do some cleaning on my own time. Easier than hearing him whine!!!

I am learning to do a job rest a bit do something else rest a bit. Makes cleaning house a 2-3 day chore but thank goodness I'm retired.

I have an echocardiogram Wed. And the next week a 2 day chemical stress test hopefully we will find out some answers.

Be well and keep on breathing😃

I think that is the best idea, a little work and then rest, I am not working at the moment so at least it is ok to rest up whenever I feel like it.

Good luck with your echocardiogram, I hope all goes well for you. What does a 2 day chemical stress test do?

      Take care confused

Because I can't walk a treadmill I get a chemically induced stress test on my heart. It works the heart for about 2 minutes as hard as if I was running on the treadmill. The 2  day test just puts me thru a lot more stress. Lucky me.

I got back more of my blood tests. It doesn't look like I have lupus or RA but one special test for a clotting factor came back inconclusive so they want to repeat it and it has to be sent to a lab in Northern Indiana. If it come backs more positive or still inconclusive I will have to go to a blood specialist.

Ahh I understand now, doesnt sound like it is too pleasant, but I hope all goes ok and good luck with the blood test.

I feel like I am coming down with a cold and my cough seems a little worse than it has been, I think another trip to the doctors tomorrow ( I seem to be there every week!)

Don't you just hate those coughs?i hate it when it looks like a cold comin on. I have asthma so my medicated inhaler helps quite a bit but coughing , you just can't hug your chest tight enough! The weather hasn't been much help this winter here in Indians. 60 degrees and sunshine and the next day it's 30 degrees with snow!

      Be well and take care

Take care and good luck with the tests

Hi . Can I join your discussion please.? I need someone to compare notes with. I had PE last August. Taking 2 Apixaban every day. I was steadily improving. But this week I am struggling with breathlessness and very tired. Sharp pain in chest sometimes. Do your days vary good and bad. ?

I also take Apixaban twice a day and get goodish days where I feel I can do quite a bit and bad days where I feel terrible.
