Blood dripping from eye

Hi,

I woke the other night with a lot of moisture pooling on my eye and dripping down my cheek. When I woke I had dried blood on my face. About 20min after I woke, my eye had a little bright red blood coming out along my lower lid. I took out my contacts (I wear extended wear, sometime a little longer than I should) and it stopped. The following night I bleed a small amount 2 times.

I have no known health problems, no diabetes, good BP. My eye looks fine. It's not red or inflamed or sore or anything!

I went to the eye doctor today and my eye looked healthy, my lids look fine. He did not know what would cause this and seemed a little skeptical it actually bled.

About an hour later a small amount of blood came out again. My eye feels slightly dry but that's about it.

Any idea what it could be? I really can't find anything describing this online.

Thanks!

Hi erin14844: I do not think you should sleep with your contacts on, It could be when you were asleep you could be scrached your eye by mistake, I will advice you to have second openion by another eye specialist to be sure and do not ignore it it is very important. good luck and let me know.

Ok, thank you!  I'm going to try and see my regular doctor tomorrow.

They are 'extended' wear contacts and desgned to wear for 30 days, even at night, they are more breathable than regular contacts. I am not going to wear them at night anymore though!

Tonight my eye bleed a little bit and then I blew my nose and a little blood came out, so now I'm wondering if it's sinus related? I've had a little cold for about 5 days and had a sinus headache a few of those days, so I don't know?

      Thank you for your reply!

No one should sleep with contact lens, even if they are extended

wear. It make sense that they would damage the eyes.

Well, that is not what my eye doctor told me. I went to the eye doctor and my eyes are not damaged, he said the looked fine. I am worried about long term damage so I will not be sleeping in them any more.

I went to my regular doctor today. He thinks its a tear duct or sinus issue even though he couldn't see damage or an infection.

I know this was 4 years ago, but i also had actual blood coming out of my eye. The first time it happened I had sneezed. This last time I woke up to dried blood on my eyelashes and on my pillow. I could see wet blood in my eye still so I know it was from my eyeball. nothing explains this on the internet and it's after Dr hours. please help if you ever figured out what happened to you!
