Etd, ear infections and noise sensitivity

A year ago I got a bad ear infection . Ever since then iv had etd . I have had ear infections and ear inflammation on and off since then . Iv been to ent who dismissed me saying nothing they can do just to use nasal sprays . He even said anti histamines won't help though my doctor has since prescribed me them . I currently have pain in my ear and noise sensitivity as well as a vibrating feeling in one ear and tinnitus in the other . I'm at my wits end and very depressed .

I'm contemplating going to a private ent . The appointment I got through nhs lasted ten minutes though he did put a camera up my nose and said there was some inflammation but I felt like I was rushed . Anyone have better luck going private and what was the cost . Thanks

      Hi Nashile

It sounds like you've had it longer than me but I was at one point considering going private. I haven't had my ent nhs appointment yet that is due mid march. I don't think Drs realise how distressing it is. I'll be interested to see if anyone has gone down the private route for this and whether it is worth it

Sorry not much help but I can empathise with you

Hi , yeah your right if they haven't experienced it themselves they won't realise . Iv been looking at clinics near me . If I go for an appointment I'll let you know . I think I'll be happier if I have more time to go through everything. Thanks for reply

Hi Nashile what country do you come from? You need to see an ENT that performs eustachian tube balloon dilation. That means that they will specialise in eustachian tube dysfunction and can offer you all possible treatments. Don't be depressed, there is an answer, it's just hard finding the answer. You may need to phone around all the ENT clinics in your area, asking the admin if the ENT performs this procedure. Good luck - it won't be long until you are feeling better!!!!

Hi! Thanks . I live in the uk . I asked the previous ent about that and he said they didn't do it . I'm thinking of going private and will ask around clinics

      Thanks for the reply

It is definitely performed in the UK so Google and phone around until you find someone!!! It's not good medicine when ENT's don't know or don't bother to find out the name of another ENT who specialises in eustachian tube dysfunction. It's one of the most common ear complaints so it shouldn't be this hard!!! xx
