Daughter with swollen lymph nodes throughout abdomen

Posted , 2 users are following.

Symptoms for 2 weeks now.Swollen lymph nodes throughout abdomen, constant abdominal pain worse at night & in morning, elevated liver enzymes, lower and mid back pain, slight fevers on & off everyday, occasional groin area pain. Blood, urine & stool samples all fine! Only place with swollen lymph glands is throughout the abdomen. Oh and a light rash on face and chest that comes and goes. Weird feeling when someone touches her legs. Dr from e.r. last wk said if stool sample comes back negative & nodes are still swollen in a wk then I can be concerned about the swollen lymph nodes. Family Dr wants to wait 2 weeks before considering a biopsy. I think that's it. No sugar coating. ?

How did you/doctors determine that lymph nodes were swollen in abdomen?

      Ok, thats what i thought.

So they are causing pain in abdomen. And what was the solution the doctors have for this ?

They say it must have bn caused by a stomach flu but she didn't have a stomach flu and neither did anyone in our home. They are calling it mesenteric lympadenitis. My dr told me to give her Tylenol even tho her liver enzymes are elevated. They haven't given her anything to help with the pain. ..& if there was an infection wouldn't her wbc count have bn elevated or wouldn't they have found it in her stool?

Oh and yes causing her pain and sometimes her sides and back hurt too. Lower and middle of the back

It could be caused by an autoimmune disorder/ indectious condition.

However, lymphadenitis causes swollen lymph nodes in the cervical area.

The abdominal/mesenteric lymph nodes is new to me.

WBC's dont always tell the whole story, as it does not always go up.

Stool also is related to ova and parasite or unless the area has bleeding, it wont be detected. However, CT scan has detected this. So are they going to wait and see what happens ?

Yes they want to wait 2 more weeks to see if she's better. I know you can't give me medical advice but you sure seem like you know what you're talking about so 1st THANK YOU for replying to me and 2nd what should I do? ? She's in pain everyday and I just don't feel like they are being thorough enough or care. I know something is wrong and I just need to know what it is so we can deal with it and move forward.

Elevated liver ezymes and pain of the sides and back is also concern, plus you said there is rash on the chest that comes and goes ?

Did the doctors address this part ?

No they didn't because it comes and goes & they haven't seen it so I don't think they believe us. Her face gets really red sometimes too.

Does this red rash over her cheeks and nose?

And her hands and feet get cold easily?
    • Posted

No her entire face gets red and I've never noticed about her hands and feet and she's never complained about it but when I asked she said yes they're always cold.

Does you or your family or her mother or family had any similar conditions ?

No autoimmune disorders .. sometimes fibromyalgia can be categorized in this ?

I feel sorry for your daughter... it heart breaking to see so much suffering cause of such symptoms .... one would think that modern medicine work fix this.

Ok I took her to the Dr again Friday. They did more extensive bloodwork. Checked her for what you said and cat scratch fever. Put her on antibiotic (flagyl) & medicine for irritable bowel syndrome that is supposed to help with pain and relax her intestines. Tests came back normal and medicine isn't helping at all! What now??

They said they were doing the ana and checking for cat scratch fever and other inflammatory stuff. Didn't explain well and I don't have the paperwork yet

OK. and what about anti-ds DNA test ?

Does she have the swollen lymph nodes still , and what country your from.

I think so but I'm not sure because I don't have the lab work to look at it? As for lymph nodes yes I believe so because she is still in pain but only at ct scan would show for sure. She had one a little over a wk ago and they were still swollen. United States. You?

No she's in so much pain especially at night but can't see a specialist for almost 2 weeks

No. Taking her for ultrasound this wk to see if they are smaller, same size or bigger. Then children's hospital next wk. She's in pain, tired and pale. Not getting any better :-(
