My brother had a total hip replacement for sever arthritis. 4 weeks later while in bed he dislocated. He had to have another op to re site. We are worried now about taking him out. Between the ops he was going out in the car to have a cup of tea etc. He had quite a lot of difficulty getting into the car, sort of throwing himself in. He has severe autism and doesn't speak or sign.
Would be grateful of your experience so I can know what to do for him?

He needs to sit down on the seat with both feet on the ground outside, and then swing his feet in. A plastic bag on the seat can help with this - or there are sort of turntables that you can buy that don't cost very much. But the general rule needs to be bum firmly on the seat BEFORE legs go in!

Can he read? Also a social story with pictures may help.
