I'm 16 yeard old and only 5ft 2 though I have grown. I think I may have scfe:

My symptoms include

Painful hip when walking and just moving my leg about

Painful knee

My leg lies externally when lying down so the toes point outwards

I have a small limp

I can't move my leg about to much or it hurts

I havent had a injury to it or anything. I'm not overweight.

I'm going to the doctor next week I just want a heads up

I'm thirteen and I was diagnosed with SCFE almost three years ago. I had the same symptoms and A LOT of pain in my knee.

Thank you for your feedback. I went to the doctors and told them all my symptoms and they said they didn't know what's wrong with it. So I'm on ibruprofin and I have to have physiotherapy once a week. I dont think its going to do much good.

The doctor said if the physiotherapy doesnt work after 6 weeks I get referred to a specialist

They usually know if it is SCFE right away. As soon as my knee started hurting, I went to the doctor and I had about six appointments in one day because they wanted to be sure that it was SCFE. I had my surgery the next day... I hope everything goes well for you. Use crutches as much as possible if you're not already because if it is SCFE, then you need to stay off of it to prevent further slippage. Luckily, my diagnosis was caught early and I'm able to still do physical activities.

Just reading your message, and I wondered how you got on?  Presuming that you did have a SUFE?  Your GP should have referred you for an X-ray immediately, (A&E) told not to put any weight through your leg.  Often you cannot tell if the SUFE is just starting, unless you have an MRI scan.  My son was also sent home from the GP with Ibuprofen, and it was catastrophic, he had to have major surgery and on crutches for 2-3 years with years of operations and hip replacements ahead.
