Crushed L1 I need help!!!!!!!!!

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have osteopoosis, osteoarthritis, in my back and neck,  and osteopenia in my left hip. I picked a box up June 7, 21016 took 2 weeks to get exray, they found I had crushed L then another 6 weeks to get CT scan then almost 3 months to get a MRI. Here it is 12/16/2016 still in so much pain, had my 2nd epidural last Friday, about 4 days of tight mussels that puts me in bed, then relief 1st one was about 10 days. Any suggestions on what I can do?

What surgical options have been discussed with you?

They stated if epidural does not work they may have to put rod in my back.

If they give you the option take it! Your back won't heal itself with the conditions you deceive.

I have had several people to tell me not to get a rod. They say alot of issues and can cause more problems.

I've got 8 screws and 2 cages. Going in on 4th Jan for 4 rods and another 8 screws. I wouldn't be walking without them!

Wow, it really scares me. I want to be able to play with grandkids again. Was healing an issue at all?

It's not a fast recovery. But it depends on what route they take to get in and how much they need to move, clear or cut out the way. I had a Double ALIF L4-S1 in April. I'm going back in for a Double (Partial PLIF) as the discs are already gone and fixed it's just to secure things! I'm hoping for a 8-10 week max recovery.

Well I go to see another Dr on the 2nd of January. Hope with another opinion I get things started in the right direction. Good luck on your surgery.

Crushed!!? and you were made to wait months! This is barbaric...I can not fathom this delay with such serious i jury.

A crushed L1 vertebrae is not going to heal. Crushed vertebrae should mean surgical fusion for stability and protection of the spinal cord.

I am so sorry for your suffering...I would find a different physician.

    Carol,

This is so wrong...find someone to help you now, not tomorrow.

    Perhaps consider emergency.
