Cushing's?

Hi all I've been very unwell for several months now. My main symptoms have been pain, numbness, skin changes, excessive thirst, rapid weight loss then weight gain, Skin changes, bloating, muscle weakness, but the worst is the cognitive declinedecline, brain slowing right down, almost to the point of going unconscious, startling easily & not myself at all.

My friend suggested I do a 24 hour saliva test for cortisol as sounded like Addison's. I've done that & the results suggest Cushing's.

My morning sample was very high, midday normal, afternoon was high and evening normal.

Would u still have Cushing's or some other problem even with two normal readings but two abnormal? And do my symptoms sound like Cushing's?

Thanks

    Hi Mandy,

Cushing's is a very rare disease, and many symptoms can be applied to other problems.Even Cushing's sufferers would not be able to say if you have it,as not everyone gets all the symptoms.Only a doctor can have the proper tests done for you,and they will check the more obvious and common illnesses first. It took 5 years to diagnose mine, just because it is so rare, and not obvious to look for.If you must speak to someone before consulting your doctor, try the pituitary foundation online, where you can speak to or email someone.

Hi thanks for your reply. The comments on my 24 hour cortisol results suggested Cushing's as significantly raised. Its a private test I had done.

I really just wanted some info before seeing my GP as know they aren't always clued up.

Thanks for your advice will check it out ☺

hi Mandy , l have been diagnosed with Cushing's syndrome from chronic asthma all my life and prednisalone use , for the last 3 to 4 years l just thought l was so unwell from menopause , it's a terrible , mind and body altering diagnosis and there are so many causes you need to see a physician  or specialist a GP will not pick this up as lm an acute nurse and had been going regularly to GP , we both thought terrible menopause , l don't know if l will ever get better but it's an awful disease what ever causes it , you need to be diagnosed properly and get  expert help , Leah  if anyone else has this diagnosis from prednisalone use l would appreciate a line , l  just want to get better and it's going on and on even though on methotrexate ,weaning off prednisalone and lots of other drugs but my anxiety up and down even with antidepressants , sometimes l feel could give up as so tired but cannot sleep .
