Debilitating pain along inner arch of foot / big toe region -- can't walk without pain

Hi, I've been experiencing a very annoying pain lately. There is an awful debilitating, throbbing type of pain along my inner arch (under my big toe) from about the mid-arch to the ball of my foot. The pain is noticeable along the side of my foot (same basic area) as well. Here are the main symptoms and my treatment thus far:

Symptoms: -debilitating pain along first metatarsal and arch of foot (very tender)

-somewhat tender between ankle and heel and along lower Achilles tendon

-pain when standing and/or walking

-cannot walk for more than a few steps before limping

-noticeable clicking sound along first metatarsal/inner arch

Treatment: -xrays and MRI did not reveal anything unusual

-wearing a boot for 2 weeks, feels virtually the same

-doing calf stretches 4 times a day

Any thoughts? Dr has only suggested plantar fasciitis, but it seems to affect non-plantar areas (and also the fact that I can't walk without limping is worrisome).

Have you been to see a podiatrist? I had been rendered for Mosley the same symptoms and I have been told its they way I walk and need specialist insoles. Maybe ask to get referred for a second opinion?

Yes I have had it for 8 months and it effects areas other than just the plantar region of the foot.

I went to see a foot and ankle specialist after my own doc was usless . I insisted on it .

i can hardly walk and limp badly . He gave me inner soles which are very rigid and uncomfortable and a night splint. I am waiting for a course of physiotherapy from the NHS and am on the waiting list.......He also told me to look online for stretching exercises. You tube has hundreds.

In desperation since nothing has helped I asked my doctor for a cortisone injection. It took a week to kick in, only hurt for a very short time and now even though I am still having real difficulty walking the pain is definitely greatly reduced and I can walk a little further.

i have just found out about myofascial  release therapy and in desperation am going to get an appointment.

    hope this helps.

I'm sorry to hear you're having similar problems.  I've had this pain going on two years and three months now so any information is helpful.  I'm currently trying a chiropractor who is using the "grastin technique" to do some deep tissue / soft tissue release therapy.  I hope it helps, but so far it just hurts a lot rolleyes

Good luck, hope it works out fo ryou

Ha have you investigated along the lines a of plantar Fascitis?

Yes, that's what the doctor suggested, but the normal rehab process (ice, massage, ibuprofen) hasn't helped much.  I've tried doing toe/arch strenghtening exercises but that seems to have worsened the condition.
