    Hello ~ Jez

I just read up on dengue and chikungunya fever.  I really didn't know much about these virus' and I feel for you.  I wish I had an answer to your problem, but, I might suggest going to MayoClinic and see if they have anything on this virus and maybe it may help.  Have your doctors given you any advice?  If not, keep on looking for this virus amongst the forums.  How are you dealing with this?  Are you able to work? Jez, I will say a prayer for you and I do hope things go well.  Noone should have to deal with this and America is a place I feel that you can get some help.  Keep looking, Jez.  Also, what do they do in the Philippines?  If it's prevalent in the Philippines, seems like they would have something they use to rid themselves of this virus.  You have to feel horrible and asking yourself why you did, indeed go there!  My thoughts and prayers are with you, Jez.  I'll keep looking for you as well.  Keep going on the DE and try not to stop  because once you stop, you have to start back to day one on the DE.  Keep us all posted as to how you're doing.

    warm regards,

      hi,

thanks for your kind words! im very grateful! yeh the virus' are both pretty nasty and it seems they have some how infected my CNS hence the neurological issues Ive been having! Im hoping with time the problems subside, but it doesnt feel that way atthe moment. I am working, well doing my PhD but am struggling to stay positive as its been a long and draining process....my doc initailly thought MS which obviously was very scary. Im just not sure how to fight this virus more effectively, our tropical disease specialists in the UK (I live in bristol) dont come accross Chikv very often, there were only 28 case in the whole uk last year so I guess they dont really understand the virus and have currently offered me little help!! not fun!

anyways thanks again, if you have any suggestions on how to get over viruses then do let me know.

I keep forgetting that this forum isn't from the US. I just rambled about the MayoClinic and after I posted the other one, I did think to myself Jez probably isn't from the US...I'm glad you factored in that my heart was in the right place...but I was in the wrong place...lol

I'm wondering if you have mosquitos that are infected with anything in the UK?  We do here in the States and its "Bites from mosquitoes carrying certain viruses or parasites can cause severe illness. Infected mosquitoes in many parts of the world transmit West Nile virus to humans. Other mosquito-borne infections include yellow fever, malaria and some types of brain infection (encephalitis).Symptoms" (MayoClinicStaff).

I'm just posting that info by the MayoClinic because perhaps it might give you another angle and for others who are having difficulties.  You can find out with a simple blood test.  Maybe the next time you see your doc, you could perhaps mention the West Nile.  Here's a site by the CDC (Communible Center for Diease Control)  http://www.cdc.gov/westnile/

Not sure if you can click on it but that's the place you can look up what the WNV is.  just sayin'  you take care and I wish you well...ALL of you well!
