I like many of us have no answer, these levothyroxine drugs seem to be dished out on TS4 tests alone and some people say it should be done on TS3. being a complete novice I also have no idea what it all means. Perhaps some other person could set us straight on this in simple terms so we can understand.

Three months ago I was on 50mcg of Levothyroxine and I was very anxious and dizzy too.

When I was referred to an Endocrinologist at the hospital he said my dizzy spells were as a result of my medication being too low so increased to 100mcg.  Since taking the higher dose the dizziness and anxiety stopped.

As you have only been been on the increased dose for three days I would give it a bit longer as I have been told that this medication takes a while to work.

    good luck

Hello- Good job reaching out. I know it's really hard to think straight sometimes when the thyroid is out of wack.Your meds are way too low. You've gone downhill since reducing the dose, the fact that they;re too low should be abvious to a doctor if they bother to ask the right questions.  In addition, the Levo may not work properly for you. Or the blood tests don't accurately reflect what's going on. It's really important for the doc to consider your clinical symptoms when determining dosage- not just labs. Also, it takes about three months for the meds to level out, so if you test a short time after starting or increasing them, you will get a spiked blood values which makes it look higher than it actually is. Some docs do the early testing as a safety net, but you really have to consider the symptoms as well. Since you lowered it three months ago, testing now should show lower end levels of T3 and T4. My TSH is always zeroed out when I'm on the meds at any dose, so I have to make sure I go to a specialist physician who understands that the TSH is NOT the best indicator for dosing meds.

Also, the levo is T4 only, so your body needs to convert to T3. If  you have any other health problems, this T4 to T3 conversin may be difficult for your body. Another reason many peole do better on the Natural Dessicated Thyroid prescriptions.

The other problem I encountered withthe levo was that it didn't really work properly for me at any dose. The dizziness seems like more of a levo reaction, while the coldness, hair loss, weightgain, anxiety, and water retention are caused by low thyroid. For me, the Levo was showing normal blood levels, but didn't seem to offer any relief from the low thyroid symptoms, so it was basically a nightmare.

    Goodluck and feel better!
