dothiepin withdrawal from 150 mg to nothing

Posted , 8 users are following.

I am currently taking 150mg of dothiepin at night. I have been taking dothiepin on and off for about twenty years. Last night I took 75mg. I didn't sleep very well. Today I have felt weepy and light headed giddy almost and sick. I was wondering if anybody has had these withdrawal symptoms? I am also taking mirtazapine 30mg and lithium 1,000mg so I'm probably over medicated. I know the next few days will be quite rough for me. Has anybody else experienced dothiepin withdrawal after a long time on the drug?

Lizzy try to get some help from the Citizens Advice I'm sure they will be able to help you. Illnesses are always worse when we have other problems to deal with. Maybe your GP would consider upping your dothiepin? Take care. Pooh.

    Hi Poohbear

Thanks I could do with it being upped, but can't face going back yet again its only been 2 weeks since my last visit!!!!! I have already had to begg for another perscription from the practise nurse as I ran out of eye drops she wasn't very impressed.

Been to citizen advice and they put us in the picture it wasn't a very nice one which is why I have got worse.

Could do with something nice happening for a change, had over 2 years of constant none stop illness and bad luck.

How are you? I take Normacol as I was told its better than fybogel, less sugar and kinder to the body. Hope you are not feeling too bad.

lizzy if you are unwell then you must go back to the doctors. I know that you have other health problems apart from your depression but in order to face the months ahead then you need to keep yourself well or as much as you are able. Dothiepin is a reliable drug and will ease the depression and make you feel less anxious. It will also help you sleep and ease your aches. What dose are you on at the moment? If you see a psychiatrist he will be best able to address your problems and sort out your meds. I'm sorry about your husband losing his job for whatever reason. Is there any cause for unfair dismissal? My husband works for a very large banking organisation and works incredibly long hours I hardly see him. He is off to Brussels Tomorrow on business. I just hope he isn't heading for a nervous breakdown. I'm not sure what to do with my bowels probably classic IBS. I've taken out shares in fybogel so can't try novocol at the moment. I thought it was to do with the drug combination that I was on but it obviously wasn't. With husband away tomorrow I will probably need some zopiclone to help me sleep. I hate the stuff but will be awake all night otherwise. Pooh.

    Hi Poohbear

I have to go for a routine appt next week so really want to wait till then. I have tried to get CBT and councelling from my Gp but he told me I wasn't a suitable candidate my rheumatologist was a little surprised at the outcome, but wasn't prepared to push the fact. So eventually I convinced my Gp to up my dothiepin from the 25mg that rheumi had put me on to 125mg. At least I am managing to get a nights sleep.

I have about 100 sachets of fybogel mainly lemon a few orange and the none flavoured ones I managed to get rid of by mixing with the others.

My hubby use to work long hours too so it has taken a little while to adjust to him being home all the time. At least he hardly ever spent nights away, If he did I didn't have a wink of sleep. As for the sacking he is apealing but his union have told him hes wasting his time. Its all down to a personality clash between him and his boss which he didn't manage very well as he was so stressed looking after me and our 4 kids.

So are you still getting withdrawal symptoms or are they passing now? I wish you a good day.

Hi it is me Pooh bear. I haven't been back to this forum for a long time. I am still off the dothiepin with no real side effects. I haven't had any major relapses either. I have had my 'wobbles'. I am more concerned with the effects of lithium on my body but I remain on it. I still know a few people who take dothiepin and for them it works well. I haven't seen my psychiatrist for over a year either so it can be done. Take care. Love Pooh. Xx

I was taking Dothiepin for many years, since the death of my son.   I was without for three days, by the second day I was falling over and completly disorientated.

Now my chemist says they do not get them any more, so I have had to go on to

    Lofepramine,,, 70mg. two a night.

I had problems with them for a couple of weeks, but now manage fine,..

Seems that you are taking a lot of Lithium.  I was advised that I should not cut down, or stop any drugs without the doctors say so.

    Very best wishes, Elizabeth.
