Hi, i really need some help last june i came over all dizzy and it was like i needed a sugar fix since that day my head feels fuzzy, i feel off balance like im falling i jerk when falling to sleep i get pressure movement in my ears and slight tinnitus if i go over a hill etc. Its ruining my life ive seen 5 GPs and only 4 have reported fluid behind the ear drum and nasal sprays. Still hasnt gone was refered to an ENT doc and he said there nothing there sent me for an MRI cane back clear but said i have a curve in lect nostril nothing he can do so discharged me i then see another ENT doc who said im to have a hearing test which will no doubt come bk ok as im not deaf in any way. So out of 7 proffesionals only 4 have seen said fluid "/ im only 27 and i have 2 children i cant live like this!!!! Anyone been in the same boat? Thank u xx

Sounds similar to what I've been going through the last 10 weeks. Is it dizziness (spinning) or more lightheaded (feeling faint and woozy) have symptoms gotten better? I'm surprised if they have found fluid that they haven't suggested surgery (grommets/tubes) cause that's supposed to help drain fluid and it's a pretty simple procedure. Have you asked about it? Any other symptoms? Facial or sinus pain? I have been feeling constantly lightheaded with blocked ears for the last 10 weeks have only been to 1 ent who said it was nasal congestion and inflammation and just takes time.. Also can't live like this I'm only 24.. Had to quit my job.. Hoping to book in with a different ent for a second opinion.

It more of a faint and woozy then room spinning.. I get numb lips on the odd occasion. Its only GPs that have reported fluid .. When i went to ENT they both said there is nothing there "/ .. So no offer of tubes or anything. Mines been going on for 7months and is really getting me down. Whichother symptoms do you get? Defo get a 2nd opinion! I heard ENT doc are not good for middle ear disorders and to try be seen by neuro otologist? Might ask my doc for a referal as ENT cant see anything x

My symptoms are constant lightheadedness, feeling woozy get headaches on right side of head and right ear has been blocked for 9 weeks left ear blocks up an Un blocks. Also get right side facial/sinus pain. They seem to be thinking its allergies but I've had an allergy blood test and it's come up negative. Am looking at going to an allergy specialist after I next see an ent (got a referral to a different one today) and a new nasal spray to try (about my 5th different one) haven't thought about neurologist yet. Have had an mri come back normal as well as full bloods normal. I also got told I have no fluid in the ear but I thought tubes could help the pressure. I bought this device called the ear popper to help unpop my ear but it can take a while to work. Definitely don't want to keep living like this so fighting for some help! Have lost my trust in doctors a bit!

Tell me about it! Ive had several nose sprays that havent worked... I brought the otovent balloon it relieves pressure in the head for abit you can buy of amazon for £7 .. I just dont understand how some ppl can see fluid whilst the ENT cant 😪. Where abouts in the country are you? Keep me updated on ur appoinments etc. They cant leave ppl like tthis xx

Definitely anxiety and a lot of worry. Every now and then I'll get really upset about it and have a mini breakdown which is bad because crying makes my headaches worse. A lot of rescue remedy! I've also been to the naturopath and am taking a herbal mixture I think it's helped with headaches but hard to tell. It's the lightheadedness that's the worst and some days it's worse and I can't leave the house. I'm in Kiama (Australia). I'm about to ring a list of 4 ear nose and throat doctors to get an appointment asap. I'm not sure if I trust the gps when I went back to my normal doctor he said he could see fluid and told me it was an infection and gave me antibiotics but next time I went to him he saw nothing so either antibiotics cleared it or it wasn't there.. But still lightheaded.

No luck with getting an appointment for months with a different ent so will have to keep my feb 8th appointment with my current ent and just make sure he looks at something different.

Its an absolute joke they should do more investigations i went to GP this morning and have been given antibiotics as my ear drums are retracted due to lots of mucus/fluid so how comes the ENT cant see it 🙄 Im so fed up and hoping antibiotics will work!!! X

Has your gp been in contact with your ent to tell them there is fluid? Cause if there's fluid surely you'd be a candidate for tubes/grommets and that should really help you out. Sigh it's very exhausting isn't it no one seems to help!

Its a 2nd ENT and i actually have my GP on wed b4 ENT fri so good idea i shall ask him to email ENT! Didnt think of that lol. Turnt so painful now 😢 Cud of been there a while as ive heard you can have an infection in the middle ear with no pain! Jus dizzy etc. How are you getting on. ? X

Yea it's this wooziness that's getting me. Had a few worse days lately so not great. Does your symptoms get better over time? And do you also have worse days? Some days seems to be worse and some days I have a better but the wooziness never goes and I always have headaches and pressure feeling in head. My gp said it could be diet related but I've been mainly eating Veges..nothing that should do anything.

Yes! I get better days then others.... It seems like ur GP is doing alot of guess work?! .. When u have ENT on the 8th is that for any results? .. No my symptoms havent really got any better but ive managed to deal with them better . They need to stop all the guessing and do further investigation... They need to understand it ruins out lifes! X

Yes a lot of guessing. Definitely don't trust them anymore.. On my first consultation with the ent he told me it was nasal congestion and inflammation and told me it would take time to go so he gave me a sinus rinse to do and steroids and I booked in my second appointment for a follow up which is on the 8th. Obviously what he's done hasn't worked so I'm just going to really fight it. I don't mind if I need surgery I'm just hoping he makes sure to do something to help me and I won't leave till I get some help and if not I'll go to other ents. I think it's all we can do not to take no for an answer and just keep going back and keep trying till the find something. Maybe in our cases it's only surgery that will help since its been so long with these symptoms.

Hi, sorry havent replied sooner it was my birthday the weekend so have been busy. How are you feeling? X

Happy birthday!! Hope you managed to enjoy it! I've been feeling a bit worse the last few days seems I've had a bit of a flare up of symptoms. I did manage to rebook my ent appointment a week earlier so will see him next Tuesday! Fingers crossed! Have been very tired lately too hard to know if it's from something I've been taking or just part of my symptoms changing. Have been loading up on vitamins! I'm thinking it definAtely seems sinus related as I had bad sinus pain the other day and since its been 10 weeks maybe it's chronic sinusitis just a theory at the moment. How have you been? Where abouts are you located?

Thank you! I was laid up most the day as the dizziness was intense. Thats good news! Hopefully they do something for you! I have ENT friday for a hearing test which i no i will pass as im not deaf i have sensitive hearing!!! Did tell him but he didnt listen lol. Yes i get soooo tired maybe that is a symptom. I hate being on my own with this dizzy feeling how about u? Im in essex in the uk 😁 Xx

I have to have a hearing test to. I know I've lost a bit of my hearing but that's cause my ear is blocked so it's temporary don't know how a hearing test will help. Yea I feel really alone in this my husband has been great in being supportive of me but no one knows what this feels like nor can anyone help! Have forgotten what it feels like to be normal it's horrible because it came on so suddenly and just hasn't gone away never thought I'd be living it 10 weeks later and who knows when it will go. Just going to fight for someone to help me and do all I can! Are you working? I had to quit my job because I couldn't work like this

Hopefully in your hearing test they shall pick something up im praying for you its absolutely disgusting they leave us like this they must not understand the effect it has on us. I have another GP app wed eve i want him to check the fluid again to see if the antibiotics have done anything. Im just so baffled as to why the GPs can see it but not the ENT 😫. No i dont work i have two small children but since i have had this problem i havent been able to walk them to school as walking really messes with my head! X

Yeah they really don't seem to care or even know what's going on. What does it have to take for them to realise what we are going through and that we need help!! They seem to just diagnose you with the first thing they can think of then send you away. I've been waiting about 8 weeks for a follow up ent appointment and he told me when I saw him I probably wouldn't be dizzy when I next saw him well he was wrong would have been helpful to have an earlier appointment with him but it's so hard to get appointments as he is so busy! I feel for you with 2 kids don't know how you do it! I find it hard to walk to but on days I feel better I try to get out of the house. Very boring as dizziness means you can't do much!

Absolute joke. Mines been 7months now and i still can not figure out why ENT cannot see it... Ive got GP tonight so i will let you know what happens. No doubt he will see it and ENT fri wont so frustrating. How u feelin x

Just got back from doctors i saw the gp that first said i had fluid... I tolf him what ENT said that they couldnt see it.. So he looked in my ears and said it seems to be clear. So i dont know weather hea lying to go along with ENT or the antibiotics have cleared it! X

Same exact thing happened to me! After I had gone to the ent I sent back to gp he said he could see my ears blocked up (ent couldn't) and I was given antibiotics then next time I went back to gp it was gone. Wondered if the antibiotics cleared it or it was never blocked... We should be able to trust the ent the most as they are the specialists! Hmm good luck Friday! I think it was my nasal spray making me tired so I stopped taking it and was a bit better. Just really want to be 100% though! Guess we have to keep fighting this with the doctors! How have you been?

Ive not been too bad, last day of antibiotics tomo. It seems to be a common prob as you have had same as me and im sure theres mang others so why is ther no fix 😫. Have you had a hearing test b4? I passed my last one 🤔 I have got one tomo and its gunna be the normal beep beep beep changing loudness which i can hear .. What i struggle with is if theres back ground noise and then words are spoken i cant hear properly.?! Think its called speech audiometry. Im going to ask for that test! You can do it online have a go and let me know what you results are xx

I haven't had a hearing test yet. I had one booked in next week but had to postpone it. My gp did a tuning fork test for my hearing and could tell that most of my hearing was going towards my left ear so my right ear that's blocked is definitely lost some hearing but I'm sure it's just temporary anyway.

From all my research it seems the next step is grommets or surgery and allergy testing. Have you been to an allergy specialist? It's on my list as well as acupuncture if nothing works. Hoping my ent suggests a good step on Tuesday. The hardest part for me at the moment is I have my sisters wedding in New Zealand in 6 weeks and if I'm still unwell I can't fly.. So need a quick fix!!

Went to have my hearing test and lady said its fine 😩 Got ENT next tues for follow up. I seriously give up. Na i havent had an allergy test ill ask for one when i see him x
    • Posted

I did an online hearing test and was fine. Most of the conditions I research say allergies have a lot to do with it although I've had an allergy blood test and it was all clear but I think the skin prick tests are more accurate. So in all the 7 months you've been suffering no one has told you what it is or how to fix it? That's not right!! Don't give up!! We will get to the bottom of this! If ent doesn't help again might be time to look at 'alternative' medicine e.g naturopathy, acupuncture
    • Posted

Yup! 7months and only been told fluid. I dont see why thevye only done a hearing test and jus go off them results. Im gunna ask for a allergy test and then look into alternative med. what time is ur app tues? Im seeing mine 7:45 pm x
    • Posted

Wow I really feel like you probably would benefit from grommets then. I'm hoping he suggests them for me at least to unblock my ear while we figure out the rest it's such a small procedure. Wow 7:45pm is a late one they dont open that late over here. Mines at 11:20am tues but my ent has a long wait so probably more like 12:30 if I'm lucky haha. Am just really hoping he helps me if he doesn't I'll have to go to another ent and it's such a long wait!
    • Posted

Your right! I would benefit from grommets but the ENT keep saying they cant see fluid so no nedd for grommets then get discharged bk to GP . Ino it is late! Glad tho becoz my children will be in bed so my partner can take me whilst his mum watches the kids . Let me no what he says on tues! Im hoping you get some relief . They should do further investigations with us not jus a hearing test etc. I feel like im being fobbed off and its so annoying x

I know its really not good enough. they are supposed to help us! i thought even grommets could just help get ear through to the eustachian tube so it should help either way. I will ask about it when i go anyway and just beg him to help me cause i cant live like this. I dont know..have just got my fingers crossed!! and counting down the days till i go and hopefully get some relief. He cant just turn me away he has to help!!

Finally saw the ent today with not much luck as I expected he pretty much just keeps saying I have inflammation in my nose and it needs time to go down and to keep using nasal spray..he didn't seem to understand what I'm going through as I told him I quit my job due to symptoms and then he asked me at the end if I was going to look for work I just burst into tears and told him I couldn't work like this even though I'd told him earlier. He did send me for a ct scan though so hopefully something shows up if it's sinus related. He said I should be okay to fly but I'm still worried as I usually end up with blocked ears after flying so I don't know what it will be like to have blocked ear on blocked ear and I don't want to be in pain for it
