Ears blocked, constant coughing and dizziness, please help!!

For the past 2 weeks i've been stuck with both my ears blocked, i can barely hear anything, i have to ask my father and mother to speak louder as i can only hear the sound of my own heartbeat and sometimes there will be small pain. I've been constantly coughing and taken many medicines, such as vitamin c or other substances, nothing helps!

I've been to the doctors all of them said my lungs are clear and its just a cold or the virus thats been lately spreading around.

And this week i'm starting to feel more dizzy i would stand in one place and feel pressure creep over me and would feel dizzy then get quick shortness of breath, or feel randomly anxious!!

My mother is really worried but both my parents think it'll go away. But its painful and i haven't been getting better.

Im 12 and I've had my thonsils removed. I would really like some help!!! Even a little bit of advise will do!

thanks x Julia

Hi Julia. I am sorry you are not feeling well and I know it can be scary when it does not seem that there is an exact answer to why. But, No matter what, keep talking to your parents! I am a parent and i would want my kiddo to keep talking to me and telling me EVERYTHING! They can't help you if they don't know everything that's going on with you! Now this website has many conversations on it regarding symptoms similar to yours... There are many people who have similar symptoms and they're trying to figure out what's going on with them too! You should sit down with your mom and dad and show them this website and you could all read through some of the conversations together ... Your mom and dad could post questions as well... And you all can read about what many of us have already tried to do or solutions that some people have come up with that of help them... Like different exercises people can do or different vitamins they may be low on that your doctor can check for.. The most important thing to do is to stay calm and keep talking to your mom and dad... They are your very best support and nobody loves you like your mom and dad do!

I would ask my parents to book me an appointment at your gp,s! Again and stress that the dizziness is not going away, that is is  affecting your balance and you need to be referred to an ENT.  early diagnosis of a vestibular problem is key!

sounds like you need your ears syringed have they looked in your ears to see if there blocked if so you need to put some olive oil in your ears everday for a couple weeks before they can syringe it out

hi, be careful,to not put too much olive oil in your ears, just a few drops okay!  Am not saying it caused my problem, but before I had my vertigo problem, I went to,drs about something else and they said I needed my ears wax doing and to,put olive oil I. For a week and the go back. I did this, but got bit carried away I feel and put too much in.  Then when I had my ears syringed it hurt like hell mostly in my  right ear.  (Nothing to do with the oil though).  a week or ten days later I developed vertigo and it has never gone away.  I often wonder if that syringing, oil, etc etc caused it, but I will never know for sure.

I'm very sorry for your vertigo problem x hope for the best that it gets better smile x And i will make sure to not put a lot, i'll maybe use cotton balls and dab it with oil. But when ears are blocked is it still possible to get pain? I sometimes get pain not on the inside of the ear but a sharp pain either near the lob or the top of my ear.

I have. I idea what would cause that kind of pain.  You would be better off seeing an ENT consultant as they know more about ears than a gp.

when you put the olive oil in your need to just put 2 3 drops it will say this on the bottle but when you put it in dont out cotton wool in your ear as it will just soak it up agagin and just dabbing it with the cotton wool will not work when you put it in leave your head to the side for a minute so it gets to your ears drum it will make you ear sound deaf but will help if you have an wax in there

I use Otex Express ear drops to clean my ears when they are blocked.

You can buy it at any chemist and also most supermarkets.

It works great for clearing wax from ears.

Yes that,s good too. Put drops in one eAr first, keep, head tilted for a few mins and then pout bit of cotton wool in for a while, is what I do, beforeactually cleaning the ear.

Hope your starting to feel better honey, but in case you’re not. Talk to your parents about outer ear infections. My husband had a similar experience a year ago and after having his ears cleaned twice with no luck, he saw an ear specialist who gave him ear drops that cleared it right up. Not a guarantee that this is your problem, but it’s worth looking into, especially with your history of tonsils being removed. Good luck and hope you feel better real soon.
