Best thing to do is to go to the hospital - preferably one that has renal unit, will save you the hassle of being transported between hospitals, because it's very unlikely for someone to take serious action without nephrologist on site. Also, you can call 111 right now to get an opinion from NHS response team wether you should go immedietaly or you could wait till morning. Either way good luck.

Do you have a renal specialist looking after you at a renal dept at a hospital? The best course of action is to contact him or her.  They should see you as a matter of urgency.  If not other options are to speak to your GP to get a rapid referral to A&E or, as Zielenica suggested, go straight to A&E unit.  30lbs is a lot of extra water to carry and you will need water tablets and may need to restrict your fluid intake.  I gained quite a bit of weight too with water overload but managed to shed it. Anyway it needs urgent attention.  Let us know how you get on.

oldqueenbalham, I was wondering what helped you to shed your water weight?  My husband has been on Furosemide 80mg. tablets since Oct. but they quit working   so on Mon. doc.  increased them to 4 tab. 4 times a day.  It is now working somewhat & he is losing a lb. a day but yesterday he came down with the gout.  Poor guy!  On top of the swollen legs to now have the gout sad

Rashawn: I did nothing special I'm afraid.  My doctor has tried me on various immunosuppressant drugs which failed but, very oddly, destroyed my appetite. The only other thing I gave up was alcohol and restricting my fluid intake to 1.5 to 2 litres per day.  By the way, losing a lb a day is a hea

      Bless you!

I suffered for 3.5 years and had high doses of steroids and most of the immune suppressants, nothing worked until I had an eight week course of chemo. That did the trick and I have been in remission for 1.5 years now and am learning to tap dance.

Wishing you hope and happiness x
