Hi - i was taking Esmya for a short while earlier in the year. My gynae told me this would be for a maximum 6months. I think it is fairly new to the market and maybe the effects of taking it long term are not known. There is a whole long list of possible side effects in the leaflet that comes with them that doesnt make pleasant reading. anyway it didnt work for me and I have just had a hysterectomy.

Hi - thanks I'm doing really well and feel better than I have done for a long time. Just wish I'd had it done sooner! Good luck x

Hi yes I believe in the UK at least it has been cleared for long term use for the treatment of fibroids, I am in Spain and have taken 3 courses of it, with some shrinkage each time and cessation of bleeding, thankfully.

Hi, mostly hot flushes, to be honest I was so pleased that the bleeding slowed and the fibroids started to shrink I would have put up with anything.n Now the bleeding has stopped but I still have a large uterus. Haven't taken Esmya since May.

    Hi Tina,

I have been told many conflicting things about esmya, I assume because it is a relatively new medication.

My consultant in the U.K. has recommended that I take esmya for 6-12months. I don't think however that this is the norm.

    Hope this helps.
