I'm 25 and have 3 uterine fibroids ranging from 4-6 cm in size. Due to extremely heavy bleeding which made me anemic I was put on norerhisterone to stop the bleeding until I saw my consultant. She prescribed me esmya which I shall take before I have a myectomy. I was wondering if i do have to wait until I start bleeding again before I take esmya or whether I can swap from the Norethisterone to the esmya straight away? Thanks

Best to check with your consultant. I was also on norethisterone and my consultant said to just stop that and start the Esmya straight away.
All the best with your op

I too am on Norethisterone for heavy bleeding. When I saw the consultant he said I had to take Esyma. He said you could take both together for a week, which is what I did. After about two days of stopping Norethisterone I had the most horrific bleed; clots, cramping etc. So the Esyma hasn't quite kicked in yet, but I feel I have to stay on the Norethisterone as I can't handle the bleeding.
