Expensive Colcrys!! Is Allpurinol the only substitute?

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi,

I am a carcinoid tumor cancer patient, (ten years) on SSDI, so very low income. Does the drug maker of Colcrys helps pay with this medication? Without Extra Help, I will not be able to afford it any longer, which I will be in painful ankles.

I've been taking 0.6mg Colcrys for four years now, but reduced it from once a day, to every four days. This year with SSDI, I pay $1.15 now for a 30 day supply, but next year, 2016,same 30 day supply will cost me $135.00 per month!

That's the end of Colcrys for me!!!

Has anyone went from Colcrys to Allpurinol, without any drastic side effect issues?

Thank You!

    Hi

Aside from Allopurinol you could always try and get hold of Sulfinpyrazone or alternatively Febuxostat and failing that Benzbromarone

However i don't know how much these treatments would cost as i live in the UK

    Hope this helps

    Thanks

Looks like a renamed or branded Colchicine, which i thought could only be used in small doses over a long time because of the side effects

Sorry I don't have the exact answer you need. But I pray you find the answer. Mean while avoid all sweets - sugar, HFCS, candy, cakes, pies, and substitute all vegetables and fruits. Making a big differance for me. Lost 20 lbs. I really believe sugar is the main enemy. Best of luck for a full recovery. God Bless.
